Literally no care for how they feel about it. If you are overpaid and underperform, you are first on the chopping block, and thats not just in sports, thats in any profession, anywhere, anytime. Thats business. Drury has done nothing wrong. I personally love the way Goody plays and Trouba has left some incredible, fond memories. That's all very nice and I appreciate it but looking forward, we dont have room to carry overpaid players who do nothing. Sorry if it's harsh, this is business.
Good for Drury having the balls to try to get rid of our worst playoff performer and by far our most overpaid player and to get rid of someone who also was overpaid at the 4C position.

Here
Listen. I get all of the reasoning from both sides. Why Drury wants to move Trouba and why he’s pissed about it.

But the simple fact is this group hasn’t gotten it done when it matters most and we’ve seen enough the last 3 seasons to understand that.

It was time to make changes to the core. Some things you can do with certain players and other things you just can’t.

The benefits of getting a fat contract that maybe you can't live up to: maximum pay

The cons: you'll always be top of list for guys to get moved when the org needs room.

This is business 101 guys. These guys signed these deals, this is what they agreed to. The high dollars always put them at risk to be moved if they were not foundational players to the orgs ongoing success.

Granted, I’m actually for getting Stamkos for the record. I just don’t think he’s the magical answer to fixing Mika and Kreider. Guy has become a power play specialist who isn’t great 5v5 and is another shooter. From a skillset perspective, he’s not the type of player we need.

But we’re stuck trying to get top talent on short term and he might scratch that itch so whatever

It's a shitty situation, but this is professional sports of the highest degree, and New York is supposed to be a top club of the sport. I actually welcome the fact if we become more ruthless like Vegas. Playing for the Rangers should not be a foregone conclusion just because you signed a contract.

I get it, it sucks extremely much from Trouba's perspective. Like a year ago, he still has a very good rep among the fans. He's the captain of the New York Rangers. His wife is working her dream job here. They have a baby mid-season. And after the season ends, a lot of the fans want you gone and the GM as well.

But this is about the New York Rangers, not Jacob Trouba and his family. As tough as it might be, I'm sure they can settle in somewhere else.

The entitlement from guys who haven’t done shit in the playoffs and only got as far as they did because of Igor is f***ing astounding.
There has been way too much complacency in this organization over the years. I'm glad Drury is trying to change that. There should be consequences for failure.

If they signed him he better not be playing on a line with Kreider and Zibanejad, that’s all I will say.

As a season ticket holder I pay 12 grand a year to see Trouba's out of position ass in the 3rd row while Bennett puts a dagger in us in game 6. That was such a metaphor for how Trouba plays hockey. He means well and he tries hard but he's not a foundational piece on a cup winning team. See you later bud

Stamkos is turning 35 this season. He's not a 100 point player (he was 3 seasons ago). He is likely still at least a 30 goal scorer but he's a winger the last 3 or 4 seasons.

He doesn't really drive a line though, which is what the Zib/Kreider line needs.

There's a lot of weird takes on Stamkos. He's mostly a wing but he does play center. But who cares about that anyway because the teams need is a RW not a C. The fact he can play it is a bonus as it provides insurance if anything happens with Chytil.

He is good 5v5 scorer. He always scores at a good 5v5 rate. Last year was his worst and it was still fine. He's not a volume shooter at 5v5 and almost never has been. He's had a very average 5v5 shot rate for like 10 years. He's quite similar to Zibanejad in that he shoots an average amount at 5v5 and a ton taking one timers on the PP. He can also replace Mika on PP1 or give them options there if one of the two go cold.

And he shouldn't play with Kreider/Zibanejad anyway. That should be Lafreniere. Stamkos should be the RW with Panarin as it puts a guy with an elite shot on a line with the guy with the best passer.

The only issue is that if its 10-16-Stammer, that is 3 righties on the same line. Not impossible to make it work, but it's a hell of a lot harder. In general, the last thing the rangers need is another righty.

Sports doesn’t guarantee job security

Sucks but like as said it’s not a country club. Far Better players than Trouba have been moved for worse reasons. If he wanted job security he shouldn’t have gotten into hockey

I know this team is “tight” but they don’t have to like Drury

I would like Drury to go in and tell them “I don’t give a shit if you to show me up then win a cup. If you can’t then I’m gonna make moves until this team does”

Yeah I mean seriously. Players aren’t happy? They’ve had multiple chances and come up short, this is a results based business and they all understand the salary cap. Don’t want stuff like this to happen? Win.
Remember the tweet says' unhappy at the way its been handled'. So we have no idea which players are unhappy, or exactly what they are unhappy about. It might just be they feel there should have been more communication with Goodrow/Trouba, or that the message could have been delivered in a better way. It doesn't mean they are upset with the decisions or the direction...
