Two metro rivals improved their defense

it is kinda funny how the one thing we all agree we needed was strong skating professional defensemen and the guys we all wanted, chyrun, dillon, roy, and walker (pesce, gostisbehere) all went in division, to the teams in division that are our most recent playoff opponents. just straight up scampered en masse to our rivals. Two metro rivals improved their defense

It won't ruin Drurys and slats and Dolan's holidays. No wonder players don't want to sign here.Latest from Vince:
Trouba has been a central figure in establishing an all-for-one, selfless culture the last few seasons, while Goodrow was one of the team's most respected veterans. There's a perception among teammates that their situations could have been handled with more openness and dignity, according to one source, with those feelings extending to other team employees who have been let go in recent years. At the top of that list is longtime trainer Jim Ramsay, who was suddenly fired last year. He was not acknowledged upon his return to Madison Square Garden with the Montreal Canadians on Feb. 15, which apparently didn't sit well with a number of players, either.
Is there a before and after?I remember picking up my ex gf from her boob job surgery. Every lip in the road I hit on the way back to her place made her scream in agony.
Made me feel bad the I personally picked them out for her.
I would have LOVED Roy at that price. Instant upgrade over Trouba.it is kinda funny how the one thing we all agree we needed was strong skating professional defensemen and the guys we all wanted, chyrun, dillon, roy, and walker (pesce, gostisbehere) all went in division, to the teams in division that are our most recent playoff opponents. just straight up scampered en masse to our rivals.
meanwhile, at 34th and 7th... Trouba holding the rangers hostage
Drury is going to have to sign some AHL vets. The D is too thin now.
How is Klingberg doing in his rehab? Brannstrom might be someone Housley can help. I honestly know nothing about him other than name and remembering him playing against the Rangers in name only.
They need one more piece up front. A bargain bin. Tatar?
Trouba did nothing wrong by not submitting his NTC list until July 1. His agent strategically picked teams which would not trade for him. 15 teams this season and 12 teams next season. There are plenty of things to criticize Drury about. Today was not one of them.
Drury did his part to get Trouba out. He got kneecapped by Trouba. He didn’t give Trouba that contract. You don’t know what he would have/wouldn’t have done with the extra cap room.
Quite frankly the only take away here is Gorton is probably laughing his ass off that he didn’t have to deal with the mess that he made
All of those players are not very good except for Pesce. Chychrun has been traded twice in the last 16 months. It seems the fans like him more than the actual teams. Carolina got worse yesterday swapping out Skjei and Resce for Walker and Ghost. $4M for Dillon. It would take people two seconds to rip that deal. A 6 year deal for Roy? He will be available for trade in one year.it is kinda funny how the one thing we all agree we needed was strong skating professional defensemen and the guys we all wanted, chyrun, dillon, roy, and walker (pesce, gostisbehere) all went in division, to the teams in division that are our most recent playoff opponents. just straight up scampered en masse to our rivals.

“The Rangers want to get younger.”
Here’s 34 year old Reilly Smith, 32 year old Sam Carrick, a Ryan Lindgren extension and the return of the captain Jacob Trouba.
would prefer something like Troub + lesser pick for 2 2ndsThis hypothetical trade has NYR/TBL/JBB all over it.
Sheary two years at 2 million for Trouba 2 years at 8 million and a pick.
Rangers gain 6 million in cap space.
They can buy Sheary out and gain another million or trade him with an adder to a bottom feeder to gain two more million in cap space.
The Rangers and Lightning have been trade parters with the aging rangers leadership is ready to be turnover to the next ranger core.
younger usually = better b'cThat never made any sense. Why would they want to get younger? They are knocking on the door of the SCF. They need to get better. Not younger.

Scanlin is our go to if/when we deal Lindy for picks, which is nec including to make a statement to Zib, bread, etcNeed a 7th D for sure . Ruewedhl you would think makes sense but there’s a few options
AHL call ups Robertson , Harpur , Mackey , Scanlin so they won’t add there
Upfront try and get a bargain guy like Atkinson ? Maybe Barbanov as he was rumoured at the deadline
Roslovic likely gets too much but he is still around

WSH was blowing money like a NBA draft pick, I guess they are giving 1 more go of it for the OV,Wilson crowd. All of those players are not very good except for Pesce. Lavi should ride his young horses and play the shit out of Laf-Cuylle-Chytil-Kakko . Those guys are young and will relish the extra quality minutes.....and the team the better for it in the long run . Sink or swim . No more coddling the old guys like Mika/Kreider and Panarin . It will make or break Kakko but it is what it is and with Perreault looming on the horizon we need to know but at the same time it might help Cuylle and Chytil . The young guys will provide more jump/effort and I assume wear down the defenders , If Kreider and Mika end up on a line 3 it is not a big deal other than some wounded pride . If anything it might also help them as they will face less talented players . I'm not sure how lines would be done.......but it is not the worst thing to have happen for all of them if it improves our pace of play and overall on ice demeanor .Who is replacing a 37 year old winger, a 31 year old overpaid 4C, a 25 year old Ryan Lindgren, and 30 year old who is the oldest guy on defense. They probably have the youngest top 6 in the league.
The Rangers are right in the middle of the league as far as age goes and it's a pretty good bet that Jones is now a top 6, Othmann will be given a serious look and Berard is on the verge.
The Rangers aren't an old team.
This is one of those sentences that you could only get on HFNYR, and the kind of thing that makes the off-season madness all worthwhileWe have no way of knowing this but Gorton would have done a better job than Drury putting the final pieces together.

We have no way of knowing this but Gorton would have done a better job than Drury putting the final pieces together. Drury doesn't know what he is doing. First time GM. Drury has traded a million draft picks and hasn't filled one hole on the roster.
Put this in the other thread right before lock:
My guess with all this is that Drury had a deal worked out with Detroit, asked Trouba to waive and he said no.
When have we known Drury to leak things? The noise about the deal probably came from the Detroit side.
She's a lawyer now.Is there a before and after?
Oh, did kreider and mika go crying?Latest from Vince:

Grow up, it’s a business and you’re getting paid millions.
