Would be hilarious if Trouba submitted his no trade list backwards by accident.
I’m sure that’s why Drury was trying to get ahead of this before the official 7/1 NTC transition. Trouba wasn’t aligned with that plan.I wonder if this affects our FA plans? Too risky to sign another RD on monday before the Trouba situation is resolved?
100% right. Business is business, on both sides. All is fair on both sides of this Trouba thing. It’s fair for the rangers to try to trade him and upgrade his position, especially in light of his recent play. It’s fair for Trouba to do what’s right for himself and his family and try to stay in NYC. And it’s also fair for the rangers to then use waivers if necessary to clear him out. Sad it’s coming to an “ugly” end, but everyone has their own priorities in mind, and when those don’t align, this is what happens.
The NMC protects the player from all angles… that’s why agents fight to get it for their clients.
Once Trouba s NMC turns to a MNTC he’s kind of screwed…
It’s gives a lot of power back to the organization from a business standpoint.
Yes Trouba and overhardt can try to get crafty with their list, but that does not prevent the rangers either
A. Finding a suitable partner for both parties to accept terms of a deal
B. They Give Trouba an ultimatum, either accept the deal in place, or he’ll be placed on waivers and have to go to any team that claims him…
If he pisses Drury off too much and clears waivers with no claims, he can ride the bus in Hartford until a suitable deal is found that accommodates NYR/trouba.
They can also put him on re-entry waivers at that point, maybe a team would claim him a bit cheaper, especially if they sustain injuries early to start next season……
That is not cap circumvention, that is the business side of a full NMC expiring and 1 party wanting to move on…
Also, if NYR has another handshake deal in place like with Goodrow, it’s very hard to prove any type of circumvention between the 2 teams as long as they both follow the proper guidelines/rules of the league.
There is no basis for any type of investigation. It’s the business side of it.
This is true, a lot of teams did a lot of prep to clear room for FA's. They're going to want to use it, one way or the other. The thing with the waiver claim is that if a team is going to make one, the next two days are the most likely time. I’m sure many teams are looking for a mid 6 defenseman come tomorrow and have a few names targeted for that role. But the second they strike out on signing those players, they need a fall back option.
Times and names change, but the games remains the same.Is it still 2005?
If you read between the lines, it's more likely that his agent leaked the story to Brooks. Drury's past moves have mostly been unknown until they happen, this wouldn't follow that precedent. Overhart probably got wind of it, talked to Trouba, who doesn't want to go, & gave Brooks the dirt.lol okay
I was just addressing what I quoted.Ehat about Sorokin and helly? Both got inder 9 too. Bot are in heavy tax areas.
No way in hell shesty should get over 10. He really should get 9 at max when looking at his compparables.
I doubt his agent was the leak. Trouba’s goal is to stay in NYC and this move is turning the whole fanbase against him. It would be a terrible move from his agent to do this.If you read between the lines, it's more likely that his agent leaked the story to Brooks. Maybe, maybe not, but another option is Brooks got it from a league source with ties to the Wings. I can't see it coming from Drury's side given his SOP on previous moves.I doubt his agent was the leak. Trouba’s goal is to stay in NYC and this move is turning the whole fanbase against him. Or in an extremely strategic move his agent leaked it to find out if any other teams were going to come up as potential suitors in a trade so that they could use the information to properly craft their NTC that is due tomorrow. People are thinking just way too simplistically that this just came from the rangers front office as a mistake.Maybe, maybe not, but another option is Brooks got it from a league source with ties to the Wings. Think it was a miscalculation by Drury to leak to Brooks about this Detroit deal. I get wanting to be aggressive but it seems to have caused this issue now
