Gallant is definitely gonna take time away from 50 goal scorer Chris Krieder and 90-110 point scorers Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad

And give it to a few kids whose career production is lower than one year of the vets.
No, we want him to take time away from guys like Blais, Strome, Trochek . Don’t think that’s an insane ask

The uniqueness of Kreider has always been his combination is straight line speed along with his strength. There aren’t many guys who combine those two traits he employs. There are guys who faster or quicker than him but he’s still a pretty rare combination even 13 years after he was drafted.
Not disagreeing with that

Ck without the puck is still extremely fast.
He’s above average with the puck.
He just can’t do what someone like McDavid can and go through 3 people.
First of all McDavid is one of a kind. Second did you watch CKs goal against Carolina in the playoffs where he skated from his own blue line out skated the defense and scored on a breakaway backhand. Looked pretty damn fast to me.

He also turned himself into probably the best player in the league at playing in front of the net.

He's a unique player even after all this time.

You guys are never satisfied. This is the best team we’ve had in years
Best team we've had since 91-92, considering the amount of young talent on the team.

But there's a coach, who's an idiot, that thinks guys like Blais and Hunt are top 6 players and that all-world talent 1st overall picks are scrub third liners.

Honestly, the most concerning thing so far this training camp period is Gallant saying Hunt has stood out the most. (Barf).
It's insanity.

Yes. The Coach who took a team to the ECF in his very 1st year…is an idiot. And he is especially an idiot because he kept the successful kid line together to start training camp — although he has already switched things up in recent days as he evaluates different options…because again, its ya know, training camp.

But surely the critics know way more about coaching an NHL roster than Gerard Gallant, who has 322 wins. If the critics were feeling this way with David Quinn at the helm I could understand it.

Insufferable

AV took the team to the SCF in his very first year, and everyone here would agree he's an idiot....

oh and Gallant abandoned that successful kid line when the ECF got tough so he could lean more on the horrible second line which of course led to losing 4 straight and ending the season.

Pretty idiotic if you ask me.

Only thing he has over Quinn is the players like him more and respect him because he was an NHLer.

Haha I don't think that they know what a ''City Boy'' is these days. Also I didn't recognise Lindgren without his amish beard haha.

Not to mention dressing and forcing a player into the lineup who was clearly seriously injured, could barely move, and ended up not being able to play most of the game like everyone in the world said would happen. In the season ending elimination game. While scratching one of the players from the mentioned "Kid Line" in favor of a scrub fringe 4th liner that he kept throwing into the top 6 all season.

The guy should win a Nobel Prize with that level of hockey coaching mastery. How could we peasants ever hope to have that much hockey knowledge.

It's his strength and weakness. He gets to loyal to certain guys.... at which point he's not doing what's best for his team.

Lol scrub third liners. You don’t mess with chemistry until you see how other lines work out. Simple stuff.

sure that was pure speed though.
I didnt say CK was slow. I said he can't weave the way guys like mcdavid or mackinnon can.
CK is straight line speed. But his puck handling is very much to be desired at full speed.

The breaking the kids line was due to the strome injury.
Im not saying it was the right thing to do in that situation, but we dont know how any other move would've worked? Push panarin to the line with mika and move ck to the right? Slide vatrano to the third with copp and whoever?
Maybe that works better, maybe it makes it worse.

I’ll be satisfied when we win more than 1 Cup in 80 years.

Drury has been doing a great job even if that doesn't fall in line with the mas0764 Stanley Cup Manifesto.

He hasn’t been doing a great job, he’s done an ok job, he’s done well some places and bad other places, but even if I assumed for sake of argument that he was doing great, that doesn’t put him above any criticism.

And if he agrees with Gallant on some of the deployment we have seen so far then yes it is a problem.

While I agree he should’ve played the kid line more in the ECF, he is the one who put the line together to begin with, which helped them get to the ECF overall. He leaned on his all world talent when things were not looking good, and while I didn’t agree with it as I alluded to before, this isn’t as outrageous or idiotic as you are making it out to be. I do think Strome should not have been playing in game 6. That was a big mistake, but that falls on everyone imo.

Gallant puts the kid line back together this training camp, the one you are claiming was so damn great during the playoffs, and all we hear is a bunch of bitching and moaning. Maybe not from you, but we’re hearing it from others. It is so disconnected.

Also, claiming Gallant is not much better than David Quinn is the most ridiculous hyperbole i have read on these boards in awhile.

I don't see how replacing Kakko with Hunt had anything to do with Strome.

It was two awful decisions separate from each other.

Strome shouldn't have been dressed. And when he couldn't continue it left the team short handed the rest of the game. The correct thing to do would have been just put Chytil up with Panarin, Goodrow center the Kid Line. And have Brodzinski or McKegg center the 4th line.

Instead he swapped wings and dressed an injured C. It made no sense.

I'm not thrilled with Gallant's deployment at this point but we're not going to get a coach that's any better. They're all like this.

They're all afraid to innovate and they all stick with what they know. The Kid Line "works" so now it's a thing forever.

Too much is being made of training camp lines. Things will change, injuries will happen and the kids will be forced into bigger roles no matter what. Blais definitely deserves a shot to show what he can do, Hunt might get waived and hasnt played in a top 6 role since last year's trade deadline.

That said, I like Gallant because he's given the Rangers some much needed professionalism and focus, but we know he doesn't have a long shelf life. They certainly can win with him, but if they dont in the next 2 years, hes not going to be around. I think they are grooming Knoblauch to take over personally. He has coached a lot of these HFD kids coming up
