There goes Hunt to waivers
I suppose that's why it's spitballing and something I'm suggesting would help with the cap but not at all saying IS going to happen. Hahahaha. It's a solution that would help ALL teams, rich and poor, retain homegrown talent. I'm not at all predicting that the owners would vote to do it, just that it might work well.As I mentioned in an earlier post, yes, the owners could agree to pay that money out of their own pockets, but why would they? They fought through 2 lockouts to put the cap in place and get the 50/50 split. Sure, the rich teams would take advantage of it if it were available to them, but I don't think you'd get enough owners to agree on it.
could see the leafs or sens snagging him, he may not be the most beautiful player out there but he brings an energy (even if just in spurts) that some teams in the league could use. There goes Hunt to waivers
Called itThey would need to trim the roster by 1 in order to make this happen. Over time, I think that it needs to be someone like Hunt that gets waived and sent down. It could be that they are trying to decide if Kravtsov can hang on this team. He's healthy and now a scratch. I can't say I disagree, they dominated the Ducks all over the ice.
The Sharks would have been a good game to get Kravtsov in though. Struggling team that has 0 wins. The games after this one get tougher. Maybe gets in for the game against CBJ since they are a little lighter of a team? Colorado and the Islanders will not play that way.
Honestly, another should go too. We have Rydahl to help on the F side if absolutely needed and can be paper-transacted.Someone had to go if they wanted any cap to work with at the deadline.
Confirmed?There goes Hunt to waivers
Hunt was a monster in Junior, played on the same team as Brayden Point and outscored him by a large margin. Those were the top 2 on that team that year. Third and fourth were Noah Gregor and Brett Howden of course. Everyone here just bitched because he wasn't a first rounderWouldn't be surprised if he's claimed. He is still only 26 and is significantly better than some 4th liners teams are throwing out
Bettman said the NHL is projecting optimism that the $1.1 billion debt paid from players to owners as a result of a pandemic revenue shortfall will be retired as soon as this season, which is at least one year faster than previously projected.
“We believe that there’s a good possibility that the escrow will be paid off this season. May not be, but it’s going to be close, we think,” Bettman said. “Which means the flat cap will be replaced by a bigger increase – if not [next] season, then the [following] one.”
If repaid in full, Bettman said the salary cap would be projected to rise “$4 or $4.5 million” next summer in 2023. If not, the salary cap would only increase $1 million to $83.5 million next season, as called for in the Memorandum of Understanding with the NHL Players’ Association.
Without demoting a player, there will be no deadline deal that the Rangers could really make.

Because Lafreniere and Kakko are 1 and 2 overall picks still being denied situations that just about every other 1st and 2nd overall pick is put in. And they're better players than the guy being put in the spot they should be in.
I'm all in favor of trading for Brendan Smith and carrying 21. You basically open up like $7M in deadline cap space just by having him sit out as both our 13F and 7D.
I mean, it’s Hunt. It’s not like he is going to be a savior if we have an injury.Confirmed?
Really hope this team doesn't get a serious injury.
If Rangers/Drury really want more cap space for the deadline I am confident Hajek will be waived. But for now they are looking at $4 million in deadline space according to Vince:
They could also move out Hajek’s contract at the deadline. As it stands right now, that $4 million should be enough to afford Kane (with double retention) and a veteran defenseman to shore up the back end. Moving Hajek could also free up more salary space to add a bottom 6 forward at the deadline. And even if not Kane, then maybe a 2C that can be our 3C with Chytil sliding to wing. Lots of options. I like Hunt but he is replaceable.
Edit: I also think Drury didnt try to trade Hunt and wanted to take their chances getting Hunt through waivers so they could potentially keep him.
Nobody is claiming Hunt lol.Foregone conclusion since Vesey signed.
Almost certain he will get claimed. Teams need cheap NHL bodies. He checks boxes as a fourth liner for borderline playoff rosters.
Blais better have a healthy season.
