Tinordi was fine, Rangers had a vet D who cost them basically nothing against the cap and played in the AHL for most of the time.

Considering the Rangers are still carrying the buyout cap hits of Shattenkirk, Girardi, DeAngelo, his signing made way more sense than several of their other choices.
Tinordi was one of the worst hockey players I have legit seen in sometime. Paul Mara and Roszival were HOF level compared to him

For his 7 NHL games at his cap hit, which did not effect anything, he was good in comparison to other players the Rangers waste cap space on.

Without complaining, the guy went to the AHL, played there, and the Rangers did not need to buy him out.

Comparing him to the high drama guys, or contracts the Rangers gave out to others where they needed to pay to move them, or buy them out, Tinordi was fine.

It's weird that people hate on Tinordi.

I still don't understand why we're carrying 23 players.

Yeah, yeah I know Blais is injured. But like, why even carry Hajek? Can we not just call someone up from Hartford if D depth is needed at some point?

Hell, I'd carry 21. It's not as if the extra guys we're carrying (other than Blais) are better than replacements.
Probably looking to move Hunt but waiting for rosters to settle down. They will probably have to take a contract back but as long as it is someone they can bury, that's fine.

Carrying Hajek because of road trip this week.

Your seething about Ed is far more annoying than anything Ed posts. Just skip over his posts if they make you so upset.
A matter of opinion. I get quite a number of positive comments for questioning Ed’s nonsense. Feel free to skip mine. Thank you

Seriously.

Don't like having to read opinions you disagree with? Maybe don't go to a message board.... or social media... or just stay offline altogether.
It’s not the opinions. It’s the stupid repetitive schtick of his. The idiotic “prediction “ of the score in each GTD? Easy to scroll past. The endless crap about Kravtsov litters the board. You can skip my posts if you like.

Brian Boyle was the best 4th line center this team has had... since Brian Boyle.

Him and Dominic Moore were a huge part of that 2013-2014 playoff run.
This is accurate, but people here have clamored for Boyle long after his 2013-2014 ability eroded. And I think Reaves helps this team more.

in the modern NHL PP scheme heavy point shots are not effective. there's a reason the best defensemen from the point are known for their shot variety, ability to open passing lanes, and shot passes. PKers have gotten really good at blocking and closing the slot, making those kind of shots pretty useless. the fact that trouba shoots a lot despite him being bad at the aformentioned PP skills is a big reason PPs he runs are so ineffective.
I’m no Zac Jones expert but he seems to have a terrific knack for getting wristers through traffic. For making shooting lanes by juking or shooting off-rhythm.

Florida was a well balanced team last season. Mason Marchment signed with the Stars. Anthony Duclair is out until January with a torn Achilles tendon. MacKenzie Weeger is in Calgary. The Florida fans will say Weeger wasn't very good last season. Matthew Tkachuk for Jonathan Huberdeau is even.

The Panthers D is bad. They claimed Josh Mahura off of waivers. Florida signed Marc Staal.

Who is replacing the Marchment's 18 goals? Duclair scored 31 goals last season.

Frank Vatrano did not have a spot in their lineup.

Florida had so much depth last season.

Who is replacing Weegar?

The Panthers don't have much cap space. Duclair is on long-term IR and they need to clear space when he is ready to return. That is a tough injury to return from. Cam Akers still is not right after injuring his Achilles.

Every season teams miss the playoffs after making the playoffs the previous season.

Expect Jones to substantially improve our 2nd PP unit sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. All though, still think a hard shot is useful to have on the PP. Schneider and Trouba could maybe still have a PP role here or there. Actually think Schneider could end up effective in that kind of sniper role. TBD.

I wonder if Chytil gets some looks on RW. I know for the past couple seasons he stuck to the “I’m a center” narrative but now that both C spots in the top 6 are locked up, I wonder if he changes his tune if asked that question

I still don't expect him to work out at center. And really, I was hoping he would get moved to the wing last season too. At this point, I don't really expect him to carry over his playoff level, if he does great. But if not, I honestly would be quite open to trading him. Not sure what we could get, but maybe as part of a package for a more..... substantial winger. Kane too expensive IMO. But might be some good, cheaper options out there. Wheeler, Gallagher, Anderson, I don't know. Just throwing some names out there. Seguin? And there's always cap issues to work out of course. Anyway, I don't dislike Chytil, just don't see him being as significant as previously hypothesized.

But hey, at least they have $15M cap space tied up in goal

(well, starting next season)

Blais has been in the league five years and the most games he has played in any one season is 40.
It’s really frustrating. And I hope Rangers will have him on strict injury prevention regime even down to diet. But some bodies just can’t recover after multiple bad injuries? Im obviously just speculating. Maybe they did and he’s just broken.
