Larry’s article basically says “the season is over anyways, might as well say f*** it and try some crazy stuff”

Expect he’s forgetting Quinn is the coach and will be out here riding his vets to win every game. Because at this point the only thing that would help Quinn keep his job is winning

The problem is that hes not good at what your asking him to do, atleast yet. He was playing terrific until he decided he should rush the puck a lot and pinch unnecessarily without support. Reunanen could provide what you're asking more naturally if he's given the chance.
His decision making will improve. It's his first season and he's gonna make mistakes especially given a top 4 role in a tough division. I honestly think he is good at what I am asking him to do. 2 strides with the puck and he's out of the zone. He did it quite often early in the season even against good competition like Crosby and Malkin. It's on the other side of the red line where he needs to make a bit better judgement on whether he should continue with the offensive drive or take a more conservative approach but to tell him just to play conservatively all the way around will surely not take advantage of his skill set.

I really hate this notion that because the season is heading south that kids should be kicked into the deep end of the pool for the hell of it. If they're not producing in 3rd line minutes, they're highly unlikely to produce just by giving them more ice time. The Rangers are better served between now and the start of next season continuing to build value in Strome and Buchnevich while also trying to teach Mika how to play hockey again.

Equally hate the idea that kids who are struggling on the wing should be dropped into the middle "just to see how it goes" or whatever.
All I am asking is for someone of Lafreniere's talent to get a shot at the first unit where there is a bit more space and time. This is where we can see his true offensive abilities and instinct. maybe even get a little more time to let off that shot of his which I feel is a big strength of his.
I'm ok with Kakko and/or Laf getting third line minutes and maybe matching up against some weaker d pairings.

Kakko specifically, with the way he comes back so deep in the defensive zone and is able to win board battles, APPEARS to be a center at times. I'm not sure how what would effect his ability to create scoring chances right now but defensively and the way he plays I could see the thought at least.
I was wondering that if him coming down so deep into his own zone to help has effected his ability to come down at the other end and generate serious chances especially off the rush like he scored his last goal on.

I'm not going to pretend I understand the thought process around the powerplay units. The all righty and all lefty units are incredibly dumb, IMO.

I believe this. He is playing a very conservative territorial game; defense first.

Would anyone trade laff for Zegras straight up right now? No smart ass answers allowed. For entertainment purposes only.

Non smart ass answer- no.

27 games isn't enough for me to move down 8 spots.

Would I consider trading Lafreniere for Jack Hughes? That gets a bit more interesting.

And one reason I threw it out there was our strength at left wing and the void at center.

Then what about Kreider primarily for Zegras? I that’s impossible but it would keep the cap a little more balanced on left wing.

I'd attach Lundkvist to Kreider.

Zegras is beyond worth it.

You're Anaheim, you're a year+ into a rebuild and your prospect pool is pretty thin featuring Drysdale, Perrault, and your best blue chip C prospect Zegras. What does it take for you to trade your best prospect, who has only grew in value since you drafted him a year and a half ago?

The answer should be he's not available barring ridiculous overpayment.

Would the Rangers have any interest in obtaining Engvall from the Leafs ? He is a big Center that is buried on that club . Would he be an upgrade over Howden and what would he cost ? Would he have the potential to move up and become a 3rd line C down the road ?

Haven’t seen much of him but of what I have he’s not bad. Definitely an upgrade over Howden. Problem is if howden is still here he probably doesn’t play over howden lol.

Lundkvist for Zegras straight up makes sense value-wise, but Anaheim isn't trading away their best center prospect with the depth they have
