Where does Kravtsov ever fit into this team?

having 4 lines won’t suck plus they ideally get to a point where they can trade depth

by the time he’s done in the KHL and quarantines this year is really only to get him over to practice and see like 10 games

The KHL is such a mystery to me. You see a guy like Kravtsov doing well, then you realize there's random 4th liners and prospects who fizzled doing as well or better stats wise. Nigel Dawes is an all time great over there and I don't think he ever saw second line action in the NHL.

Ideally you give Kravstov time at RW on the 3rd line

That said I know that’s not going to happen off the bat. I’d rather he play in Hartford than on the 4th line with no offense Howden as his center

I would like to see him on the 3rd line as well, but it just wont happen. And there is no sense in him being on the 4th line here getting 8-10 minutes per game. He needs at least 13-16 minutes. Seems arbitrary but thats at least 3-5 more shifts per game to make something happen.

Gotta keep Laf with Zib and Buch. Him and Buch are developing some great chemistry. Laf is building confidence. Dont touch that line.
When panarin comes back what are you doing? Kreider on the third line? I’m ok with that if he’s playing with chytl and kravtsov

Very good question. DQ has really stepped in shit with these line combinations. He has flipped things around so much he was bound to find something that worked in the top 6. But Kreider and Strome are really playing well together. Its a tough call, but I would roll with these:

Lafreniere-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Panarin-Chytil-Gauthier
Kreider-Strome-Kakko.

And I dont look at one line as being the 1st line or the 3rd line. It gives you 3 formidable lines. Gauthier is a shooter which is why its good to have him with Panarin and Chytil. I could also see a swap of Kakko with Gauthier. But that might make the line too passive. Only reason being is it would be something to see Kreider and Gauthier on the same line as two guys that use their size, strength, and speed to drive the defenders back toward their own net. At the same time, that is a good reason to diversify the lines and keep them as I have above.

Hardly breaking news - Chytil looks good but unless this organization finds long term solutions at center the highly touted wingers like Krav will likely fall short. Could see a Krav moved out for that center. We will see.

The KHL is a league with a ton of variation. The very best players are NHL quality, while the players at the bottom of the lineup on the worst teams aren't even good enough for the AHL.

It's also a league, like a lot of large ice European leagues, where there is a lot more time and space, and focus on cycle play rather than transition play. Transitions are tough in the NHL because of the physicality and narrow ice, where they are pretty much an afterthought in Europe.

So it's about trying to scout the players you think will be able to transition to a higher paced game.

Yes but with Dawes we shouldn't forget that he only hit his prime in Russia. Yes, it's a league that is a level below the NHL but still the 2nd best league in the world. For reference, Zuccarello's numbers in the NHL are better than in the KHL during the lockout, but he was only hitting his prime after that.

The Dawes comparison isn't perfect. I think he'd be a solid 2nd line player in the NHL in the same years he was an elite player in the KHL.
