Okay, see you all again in five hours.
Remember to get some sun.

This has been the most anti climatic week in history. So much nothing.![]()
Can we buy out both Shattenkirk and Staal later? Or just one or the other?
Well, either way... If they go "quick-fix" with a Shatty buyout I'll be a little disappointed. The dead cap space it creates 20/21 is horrible. I don't think Gorton wants to go down that road tbh either. Pretty sure we'll see something a little smarter, what it is...?![]()
So are we sure that noon was a deadline?
I was at the driving range!!! What did I miss?!?!?!Okay, see you all again in five hours.

He's a former Ranger. So he checks all the boxes.I would sign Jason Strudwick right now.
Does this involve the Rangers?

According to Cap Friendly Smith has a modified NTC, would that make a difference?
Well, I agree to some extent...But you have to be in it to win it every year. Whether you feel you have a shot or not, I expect everyone to give 110%, night in, night out. Paying a guy 6 mil to play with another team doesn't help, and should be a MAJOR concern...To write it off as acceptable "just because"..is unacceptable...20/21 isn't our target year to compete. With all the ELCs and young players we have, and the players coming off the books next year, we can more than absorb Shattenkirk's dead cap. It shouldn't really be a concern. It's easier to swallow than trying to make a "smarter" move like minimizing Kreider's return by sending an anchor along with him.
5pm is the deadline for putting in paperwork for the buyouts.
In Smith's case, even though it's the offseason, I believe being put on unconditional waivers at noon is also part of the process instead of just filing the paperwork. @mouser is this right?
Staal/Shattenkirk can have their buyout paperwork filed at 4:59pm.
The rule is the paperwork must be filed before 5PM. After the paperwork is filed the player must be put on unconditional waivers at the next available opportunity. Meaning Smith could actually go on waivers Thursday if the paperwork is filed today after the Noon waiver deadline.

It seems as if some of you prefer hockey transactions over the actual sport/team
I didn't know the NHL had a mayor
