yes noon is when signings can be announced...technically teams are not supposed to talk specific contracts during this window and can only really begin negotiating at noon on 7/1 so its always funny when contracts are officially signed at like 12:05

We traded a conditional 2020 3rd round pick to Carolina as part of the deal for Fox. If Fox plays 30+ games this season, it becomes a 2nd round pick.

Because of that, we can't give an offer sheet where the compensation would include a 2nd or 3rd round pick. We would need to work something out with Carolina first to get that pick back. That would be some next level dirty pool. Make a trade with them to get the pick back then use that pick to steal their star player.

Which brings up the other possibility, a trade. Anybody have any realistic trade ideas that would make sense? If Kreider, lias, and Vesey interest them, or others, gotta consider it and forget Panarin .

Sorry, not sure I am understanding. I that would have thought that a signing bonus is a signing bonus. Ok. None of us can answer that, but am betting that it is not that simple as otherwise why wouldn't each NHLer who is due for large UFA contract simply declare Florida residency?

Performance bonuses cannot be used in that manner. Anything that requires 'work related stipulations'.

Because then every single team would have to give them big cash in July. Only a select few teams have that capability.

This (the Spooner buyout) is very good news. More cap space + another retention slot. CapFriendly has already updated to reflect both.
