Would he want to step aside as a KHL HC to go do non-coaching staff work for the Rangers?

is he still head coach though? don't see anything about him leaving but his staff profile on elite prospects doesn't have a team/job listed for 19-20?

Rangers didn't select anyone until Sean Day in Round 3 of 2016. Not sure if I follow with regard to Keller... what am I missing?

Long story short, Rangers targeted Keller and had a deal in place for the fourth overall pick in exchange for McD. This was assuming Pool Party was taken third. He wasn't, Edmonton took him fourth, and the rest is history.

So does anyone know what the situation is with AZ? Who is available? They have some moves to make due to the cap.

That would have been . . . interesting. McD was two years removed from his Leetch performance, dinged up, and his Modified NTC was about to kick in. But he also had three more seasons on a very reasonable AAV.

I feel like that trade would have split HFNYR in half.

If it happened, I could only imagine the meltdown that would've taken place on here

Isn’t Jesper Fast literally our cheap 4th line right wing?

The operative word there is “cheap”. The rangers can definitely benefit from a depth signing or two to bolster the bottom 6 so it isn’t completely full of rookies. If Fast or anyone else for that matter gets injured we are stuck with Lettieri and an AHL depth signing on the wings. It doesn’t hurt to target a few guys who can play the role of 12-14F.

Leipsic is a very talented offensive player who is a good skater with quick hands. I would be very happy bringing him in. In the worst case scenario he is an elite AHL scorer. He played a lot with Horvat and Boeser in Vancouver.

True, that is always fun. But JD and Lanny McDonald are the ones who called him to let him know he made it.

Are we sure this isn't just about the Hall of Fame?

JD called him about the HOF...but its being implied that they agreed to meet further. but anything more is just speculation...it could just be to catch up after all these years

Because Brendan Smith is playing fourth line left wing in this scenario

Which he did most of the 2nd half of last year and helped us. Unless we’re buying him out which I doubt he’ll be right back there. Especially with fox and DeAngelo not the greatest Pkers.

I don’t know much about him. Can you describe?

I’d still be a fan of signing Hartman on a short term deal. He’s a PIA to play against and has some skill. Kind of a poor man’s Lemieux.

I agree w Hartman based on age and talent he fits in under the right cap hit

Gotta think Fast goes by the deadline even though he’s a favourite .

Maybe I’m missing something

Lemieux Howden Strome
Smith Andersson Fast
Nieves

Not even counting Namestnikov or Vesey who we have to or should move.

Why do we need bottom 6 forwards again?

Smith is a Dman . Just because he played some meaningless games upfront doesn’t mean he’s there on purpose this year

Just because he did it in the second half of last season does not mean he should do it again. I think they would be better off burying his salary and saving the ~975k on the cap or playing him to spare a rookie when needed on the backend.

Expecting him to be an every day player in a bottom 6 role should not be the goal heading into this season.
