Went back theough the thread to check the time (you’re right about it) and man, some of those posters could use the benefit on hindsight
I saw someone post the time of it a few hours ago(could've been you), I think it was something like 12:39 specifically. And I hope I came out of that thread looking alright in hindsight, I remember being kind of upset because Stepan was one of my favorite Rangers, but I don't remember being all that shocked or mad about it either

So, here is the rundown.

By now we’ve discussed or I’ve given enough hints to deduce:

The Rangers have had conversations with Buffalo and Edmonton involving Buch. Those talks have also included Names and Vesey, JP and Nylander. Nothing new to report tonight. The ball is with Edmonton and Buffalo.

The Rangers have talked to Toronto. It’s not Marner or Kadri. Nylander and Kapaned were mentioned. Nothing imminent.

As has long been suggested, the Coyotes and Avs have shown an interest in and engaged in talks about Kreider. The Avs have been more aggressive today. We’ll see how/if Arizona responds.

No one still wants Shatty as of 10:30 tonight. Par for the course.

The Rangers still would love to get in range of players they like in the draft. We’ve outlined combine interviews and guys they like, even if the board isn’t head over heels for some of those names.

We’ve talked about Vesey being viewed in a similar fashion to Pionk by some teams.

Speaking of Pionk, we talked about him on a recent pod. Talked about his departure being a matter of if and not when. Talked about him having higher value than the board realized. Now we’re talking about him being one of two components in a trade for Trouba.

Speaking of Trouba, we talked about the Rangers not chasing the price into the stratosphere. They obviously did not.

So, am I missing anything short of social security numbers and home addresses?

Interesting that there has been a lot of buchnevich talk lately. Why do you think the org is looking to move him?

What would you see coming back in a Kreider deal to the Avs?

I was hoping for something today, but I didn't expect anything. All the GMs in one spot on the West coast, where it's still rather early. Why settle a deal now when you can chat around and see if you can get something better?

I will say that there definitely seems to be a lot more chatter this year, but maybe it's just because I have more free time this year to pay attention to it.

It'll be interesting to see if the Edmonton/Buffalo deals pan out. Kreider seems like the obvious trade but selling on Buch and gambling on a high pick and a reclamation project is a big risk. Could be the move we look back on as "the steal" or a big scuff mark on a (hopefully) still successful rebuild.

Yeah but if you were really good you’d force these deals through by grabbing Gorts by the balls. Useless...

I tried, but you know, I didn’t have time to film it, photograph it, and have written testimony notarized of the shape, size and color of the balls in question.

I mean I don’t want there to be any concerns that I just grab people for the thumbs up option around here.

Speaking only for myself, I’d prefer to see Gorton be aggressive and go for the futures even if it doesn’t work.

I’m on a plane taxiing on the runway and I laughed out loud at this. The olde woman next to me woke up and gave me a very quizzical look. I hope you’re proud of yourself

Value and interest with Buch. There’s a lot to negotiate with if you have the right team (upside, control, fit for their centers), and there are teams in a position to be interested.

Kreider talk has been 16th pick or Katy, and another asset. The question is the other asset and whether Colorado says yes. Arizona was the 14th pick and another asset.

Thanks for the insight.

I agree, but that sort of begs the question of what do you do with Kreider then? I have a hard time seeing them dealing 3 of Kreider, Buch, Names, and Vesey. That's a lot of production and veteran experience walking out the door. So if they make the Buch trade, do they knuckle down and sign Kreider to an extension? Seems more likely that they go with the Kreider route unless Buf/Edm really steps up to the plate with a strong offer.

Thanks for sharing. Seriously dude.

As far as personal info and SS#’s, we have @Amazing Kreiderman for that.

1 hat is enough with the amount we’re paying you.

Maybe trade him at the deadline?

Reactions: Edge
From what Edge has said in the past it’s more about other teams asking specifically about Buch than Gorton shopping him

The Rangers haven’t placed him off limits, and teams are asking. Keeping in mind that these teams have also been talking to the Rangers about other things - picks, Vesey, Names, JP, etc.

The Rangers are trying to fully explore multiple options for both Buch and Kreider, including multiple teams and contract options.

Additionally, the completion of one trade involving either Buch or Kreider, potentially impacts the likelihood of the other being moved.

What would you see coming back in a Kreider deal to the Avs?
Maybe they want to avoid a future cap crunch and get a player who will be cheaper longer, kicking that can down the road maybe? Maybe thinking a guy like Kravtsov will come in and fill his current role on the team so they want to get a different kind of player. Not sure. I’d prefer to hold onto him unless it’s in a deal we clearly win.

I can understand moving Buch and keeping Kreider. Different kinds of players and then Kravtsov slides in and fills Buch’s role as a similar type of player.

Also, who do you see the rangers targeting at 14 or 16?

They considerations would include a falling forward they liked at 6, and someone of the names we’ve heard from the combine and other sources. Can’t say those are the only names, but some of those names would be in the mix - be it Newhook, Cozens, Broberg, Seider, Caufield, etc.

I hear you. My only concern is that unlike all the other names being mentioned, Buch could elevate his game to a level we haven't yet seen.
