I'm cold and its boring so..
Pettersson and Horvat for the Kid line
Vancouver says no for sure but I think there’s some room with other teams to make a deal for a forward

Nashville with Trenin would be one, another would be Minnesota with someone like Gaudreau or Hartman

Hello good folks of HF Rangers. Wanted to see how you all are liking Trocheck so far. Always liked him as a player.

Personally I’ve soured on Bread as well. Have been for a while. He’s a great player, personality and a blast to watch, but in the context of his cap hit and how our team is constructed, he just doesn’t fit. He’s becoming more of a PP specialist each year, refuses to alter his game at ES and has never shown an ounce of chemistry with anyone but Strome.

However, it’s also useless getting worked up about him since there’s nothing Drury can do about it.

Ive been banging this drum for years and why I was an early advocate for trading Bread and not extending Mika. Mika added some engagement and skating effort to compensate for his probable concussion based playstyle change. But at the end of the day the highest paid players on the teams don't establish in the tough areas because it's hard and they don't wanna.

And that's not gonna win without the 2014 Kings around them. Whoever mocked it, that's actually the correct adjustment to your top guys being soft and not imposing their will! The org isn't as dumb as some like to portray.

The problem is that the org tied their colors to expensive finesse guys in the middle of a rebuild, plus got top rated talent to build with, then 'randomly' (hi Dolan) decided the rebuild is over, and now has a mishmash of ill fitting pieces (too many skill guys + too many kids) combined with an ill fitting coach (doesn't really get the modern game) combined with an ill fitting basic outlook for the tools at hand (2014 Kings) that finds itself squeezed against the roof of the cap already. This worked to an extent last year because the Rangers had a LOT of trade ammo + cap space to make soild TDL deals to boost post season depth, but now the roster looks thin. Separately all of the pieces and ideas are fine, but they don't fit in the same pot.

sneaking in Trocheck was cute

but this entire team sucks at producing 5v5. The refusal to shoot has always been his major weakness. I remember the good ol' days when Panarin was a machine at even strength and led the league in EVP... 71 Even-strength points in 69 games... Imagine that
Both things are true. I dont much care about panarin's PPP when half the talk around here is more pp time for kids would mean they would get more points as well. 5v5 isn't even just about the points but it's about setting a tone and being hard to play against even if you are a finesse player. For all the crap I give about trocheck he is a harder 5v5 player to play against than panarin even though panarin has his incredible skill and vision. He just won't go to the hard areas consistently anymore.

Totally... 13 points in 18 games... 3rd liner for sure...
6 even strength points in 18 games playing with a top 5 skilled winger in the world...

All I read hear after the Vinny signing was how his straight line game would make panarin better 5v5. Panarin's 5v5 production is even worse this year than last year, and as I said this summer relying on Vinny to fix your elite level and paid winger at 5v5 was a mistake. Decisions need to stop being made around how to "fix" the player with a top 3 cap hit in the league. At some point we need to realize this is going to be the norm with him bc he hasn't been the same player for a couple of years regardless of how many ppp he racks up

One reason we suck at scoring at EV is because we never have many odd man breaks or breakaways, we don’t cause turnovers in the NZ or at our own blue line. We sure give them up all the time though.

It’s hard to score when you never outnumber the opposition in the offensive zone, which is why you see so much cycling and possession but no real scoring chances

Surely Patrick Kane can wallpaper over all of this.

You think Kreider’s playing well at ES?
On this team compared to the others, kind of, yes.

At least tangibly in terms of goals scored when he is on the ice versus goals given up. Sure there is some context missing there both positive and negative for Kreider, yet stats, my eye test at least, he has not been great, but not bad.

Panarin, Trouba, Miller, both stats and my eye test 5on5/even have been bad. Panarin does not even attempt to play D, the other two do, they are just not good at it, oddly enough in differnet ways. Trouba is lost, Miller both makes too many low percentage plays and pinches too much.

Then there are players who again are not bad but not good, not talking PP, Zbad, Trocheck, Kakko, Laff, Goodrow, Blais, etc

Chytil has missed some games, yet he has been good compared to his team. Fox as well has been good.

Kreider I am not normally a defender of, yet he has been pretty good even if I think he can be better, like use his speed to do more stuff. It's the others who should be at least good who are driving this submarine in my opinion.

If kravtsov isn't going to make it here maybe a swap with Washington for McMichael would make sense. He can't get in the lineup there even with all their injuries. A swap of struggling former 1st rounders might make sense?

You know why I hate to base analytics around performance? Bc expected goals doesn’t mean real goals. Any team/player can have a great chart and it means f*** all when it doesnt come true. Sorry to the people who abide by it.

I have a love/hate with xG.

The entire premise makes sense in theory. Point blank shots are great. Slot. Rebounds... etc High %.... but Rongos shoot it at the goalie. Crest snipers.

So on paper we're good. In actuality we're shit finishers and need to pass the puck into the net.

We've broken analytics two years in a row... by having shit metrics last year but winning... . now we have good metrics but losing. Rangers hockey hits different

You think Kreider’s playing well at ES?
I know he's an easy target and it's blatant when he's coasting,.. but he's easily one of our best, if not the best even strength player we have.

Why not go for the earlier vintage and get Morgan Frost?

Look at some of the worst teams in the league in sh percentage this season. Us, Toronto, the Avalanche, Minnesota. All of these teams were elite scoring teams last year except the Rangers, and even our shooting percentage is worse than last season. Sometimes it is just random variance and not anything in the players or teams control.
