Speculation: Roster Building Thread II (2022-23): The Puck is Prepared to be Mounted

  • Xenforo Cloud is doing server maintenance Thurdsay 13th at 9 AM GMT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.

We talk all the time about quality depth and a serious lack of it.

Well, picking twice late in a stacked draft will provide that cheap, quality, depth that we lack.

Not today, or tomorrow, but when the transition happens from CK, AP, VT to KK, FC, AL, we are going to still need to back fill the 3rd lines and good 2nd/3rd liners are often times drafted late in the 1st round.

Attaching either for some Douche-Bag like Kane or any other name being bandied about would be dumb.

He's playing with absolute dog water on his line, as well as the same bad actors on his PP unit.

Kane would be third on Rangers in PP Points, and easily second/first if he had the weapons NY had upto all star break. Rangers have a middling PP according to the rankings, so making sure that hums is crucial to playoff success.

I won't even get into the part where both Panarian and Kane are each other's best partner based of how I've seen both play with others throughout the years.

I won't even get into the part where Panarin at times just doesn't seem to gel with anyone.

If you guys think this is a "last chance" playoff run before cap issues begin to really affect roster personnel. there is a reason this rental makes alot of sense when people speculate deadline moves...
If if if.

If the Queen had balls, she'd be King

It’s not likely but if Chytil and Kravtsov go back to SJ and maybe Goodrow gets traded in the off-season, it could happen.
I agree it’s probably not happening but I wouldn’t rule it out.
They would be morons to trade Chytil. He's only scratching the surface of his potential. Size, speed and shot. He could be the best forward that we've produced in decades.

Isnt he also injured enough that they're considering shutting him down for the year?

How much would Tank and ROR cost?

Jones, Kravtsov and a 1st? how close is that?

That's about as all-in as it would get. Move Chytil to RW

Adding Playoff ROR and Tank, increases our chances dramatically.

But Tank should be a Ranger already

Not very excited about shelling out for rentals every year to “fix” our team to play the style Gallant wants

I like Chytil but that is such a sad statement

No reason? Who would move in this hypothetical scenario?

Zibs? No. Trocheck? No.

Gallant obviously doesn’t trust him much on defense.
Trocheck, obviously.

I mean, you have a point about what the Rangers would realistically do but we could also just not get ROR because we don't need a center.

you move chytil over to the wing, no questions asked

tro is a better faceoff guy

We're transitioning from a player in year 1 of a 7 year deal.
Any player drafted late 1st round in this draft will not make an impact for 3-4 years

So yes, in years 4 and 5 of said 7 year contract, we will be transitioning away from that player

I'd plant RO'R on Chytil's RW.

It should be Trochek because of how horrible he is on zone entries. I don't think Chytil sucking butt on faceoffs is enough to offset it.

but he's terrible in the middle of the ice and carrying the puck. that matters a lot and is by far Trochek's biggest weakness.

ROR, based on his stats and play THIS YEAR, should not cost more than a 3rd round pick.
If he’s publicly saying he doesn’t want to leave, does it make sense to acquire him at any price? Dude’s going to be a kicked dog in the locker room down the stretch.

I dont think ROR moves. STL arent going to get a return that makes it worth their while to move a Conn Smythe winning Captain who actively doesn't want to leave. There's no reason the Blues can't be a playoff team next year. Tarasenko is "The Guy" this year for us though

I am beginning to suspect you could get Tarasenko for a second. In which case I’m in.

Strickland doesn't see the Blues trading everyone.

The Blues will make an offer to ROR. Apparently, ROR is comfortable in STL. His family likes living there. He is willing to be more realistic in his next contract. He saw Kadri end up in Calgary.

Marek wants to trade everyone. It's the same thing with every guest. The guest offers the more realistic point of view.
