Remember when we convinced ourselves that the rationale behind the Buch trade was cap space and opening up spots for our insane prospect RW depth?
It was all bullshit, and the funny thing is we had to waste assets at the trade deadline last season to replace him anyway. They should have just kept him and let him walk for nothing, it would have saved them all of the picks they traded for copp. I know it's old news but it just shows a lack of forward thinking by this FO.

As much as it's boring reading the same talking points, we are paying dearly for this trade and its consequences.

Blais is absolute dog shit (through no fault of his own but he wasn't good before the Subban thing either) and seemingly has a spot locked in regardless of what he does

he still doesnt have a damn goal! Buchnevich has more goals as a Blue than Blais has SHOTS as a Ranger! It's such a cataclysmic organizational failure that it really can't be avoided.

If Buch was here and signed long term we'd have posters begging for him to be traded so we could give more time to the Kids. Lets not kid ourselves here

Is anyone concerned that it seems the Habs are ruining Slavkofsky? He's only played 11:39 a game. His most common center is Jack Evans. He's 13th among MTL forwards in 5v5 mins/game among those with 100+ mins played. He's 10th on the team in 5v4 minutes/game amongst forwards. For a rebuilding team they really don't seem to trust him much. I'd have thought they'd just give him top line top PP minutes and let him go. Would they consider something around Kravtsov and one of our firsts?
I think something around Lafreniere would work. Montreal gets their hometown kid and the Rangers get another 1st overall we can all fight about whether or not they would become a superstar if they just got 16 minutes of ice time instead of 14.

They could have cut player salaries to account for lower revenues and enforce the 50/50 split each year, but they didn't do that either. Instead they paid the players their full salaries and then let the players pay them back over time.

Would you rather the salary cap had dropped by 10 mil or more?

The fact that they didn't do something worse for the on-ice product isn't justification for failing to do something better.

After seeing how Laf and Kakko were handled, do you think we WON'T ruin Slavkofsky?

I did watch playoff hockey, every game. In fact I was in the Garden for Game 7 vs Pitt, I was in Carolina for Game 7, and I went to Tampa to root on the boys for Game 4. I endured about as much playoff hockey as a Black Ace lol.

I understand a lot of where your passion comes from, but again to use Girardi as an example, this won't end well. Let me stop again and re-iterate, I'm looking for pragmatic solutions, not taking aim at Lindy. I love watching the guy play hockey, but anyone that doesn't see the blemishes he makes, or the penalties he takes, is blind because of their love for his game.

He plays on the edge so he will get penalties, ok fine. Simply put, Fox has well surpassed him as a D partner. He's a 2nd pair D in this league, and on a Cup team he's a bottom 4 D with amazing depth. That's cool that him and Fox are besties so he gets to ride shotgun and play LD1, but investing in him on the next contract like he's a bonafide top 2 or 3 defensemen on any team, as he's been taxing his body nonstop, these players don't last.

And you say that defensemen not scoring don't get raises...... again do you remember Dan Girardi? Girardi broke 30 points once and was a career shutdown in your face D man who put his body on the line... yet he got $5.5 over 6 years. I'm weary to make that mistake again, not to mention at 35 I simply have accepted that sports is a business, and being able to see ahead of these things will pay off in the long run..

Again, I'm not calling for Lindy's head. I'm pumped to watch him play, but fooling ourselves that his level of play will last is foolish. Hell, I think he might even play harder than G did.

Great then you watched how nobody but lindy was able to body people in front of the net so Shesty could see, he played hard in your face hockey and didnt let the other team get away with shit. NOBODY on this team currently does what he does. So good for you for going to the games but if you think anyone on this team has lindys ability in front or the heart that he posesses then your out to lunch.

Lindy is not a botton pairing defenseman, Stop this! Hes easily a top 4 dman in the league and is getting paid nothing for it. While Girardi is the cautionary tale lets not forget he was 30 years old. Lindy is 24. He can easily get another 3 year 4m tops for his next contract. After that, then yes let him go or trade him in his final year of his contract. To move a top 4 dman making 3m per year as a cap dump is just not smart.

He wont get the Girardi contract. Every time most people post contracts they are dead wrong. Just bc Girardi got his bag ages ago does not mean we will make the same mistake and offer Lindy 6m per year.

Again, i iknow your not calling for his head but find another cap dump that isnt going to SEVERLY hurt this team now and the future.

If anything is going to ruin that kid it's him skating around obliviously, admiring his passes and such, and getting steamrollered on the regular.

There’s no good argument for someone like Blais or Brodzinski to be playing over Krav when they don’t fill specific roles and we can slot a more balanced lineup moving guys like Goodrow and Vesey around
they aren't playing over him, Vesey is. They can move Goodrow to the 4th and sit one of those guys though. The problem is Gallant likes Vesey and Goodrow where they are and Krav is useless on the 4th line.

We would likely do the same. Whats the point.

if you're going to trade for another LHD they desperately have to be a good puck mover. that is a top priority. Fox can't do it all and it's a big part of why our transition is godawful. Trouba sucks at passing. Lindgren sucks with the puck period. Schneider is improving there and pretty good skating with it. KAM is hit and miss. We were hoping Jones would make an impact but he hasn't, and I believe he was given chances too, he just didn't perform.

I don't think it needs to ball out on a top pair D but our puck moving sucks ostrich nuts and we desperately need improvement
They indeed suck at those zone clearing chances....it by far is the biggest problem the team has so far this season .
