I am amazed every time how convinced you are about our center depth.
 
I get the feeling Smith won't be re-signing with us. Also, I'm thinking Klein is moved if not claimed.
 
15 team list is pretty tough to move. There aren't very many teams willing to take on a terrible player with years and a big contract. G's agent will know which teams are in a position to take him and willing to do so.

And I'm sure they'd leave teams like NJD, NYI, PHI, PIT, and WSH off that list knowing those teams aren't going us any favors barring significant over payment.
 
So theoretically wouldn't it behoove the Rangers to have Nashville lose? They would for sure be looking to add in the offseason and would seem to be a landing spot for someone like Nash or Stepan, no?

What would they give up in return though that would help the Rangers now. A Nash trade would give cap space but I don't see Nashville moving any of their big 4 D in a trade for Stepan if they are going to make another run.

I've discussed Colin Wilson in the past from them. Big bodied forward who is good for 35-45 points IMO. Skates well. Start there for Nash and add a pick or prospect.

and lose him in expansion?... Rangers can not do ANYTHING on defense unless they're buying out Staal or Girardi until after the ED.

There is no reason to sign him before the expansion draft happens.
