Respectfully if Knies is asking for 7m on a 3-5 year deal, start shopping him.
Ahhh, so it does it matter how much, or just age based? When they are 35...sure
To be honest, I think 7 x 5 might look like a steal for Knies in a couple of years.Respectfully if Knies is asking for 7m on a 3-5 year deal, start shopping him.
Good lord.

I saw that coming when idiots first started whispering about letting Marner walk and I went to look at the free agent list. With Duchene resigning in Dallas, we're now releasing the #1 and #2 regular season scorers. Most of the options below that are either looking to resign with their teams or have ruled Toronto out entirely. We're seriously a step away from having the team sign Corey Perry 5 years late and proclaiming that's the perfect offseason. How long before people start suggesting we can replace the offense by brining up Cowan now? It's safe to say it's the most challenging for the team in almost a decade.
Tres job is close to being on the line. If he flops and the team regresses significantly, he won't have much rope left.
First of all, how many Knies’ are there in the league? Second of all, when’s the last time we’ve had a player of his ilk. He’s the last player on the team I’m trading…
I doubt he'll get that (due to comparable players), but why do you think that (for example) 5 x 7 million is too rich?Respectfully if Knies is asking for 7m on a 3-5 year deal, start shopping him.

If Tampa offered him 1.8-1.9M he'd most likely sign today. I think they're offering him 1-1.25M. If Toronto were to OS him at 2.34M Tampa would be able to match today. Will they be able to match in 2 weeks if they make a big splash?
Sorry, but I would rather have Knies at 8
Million than Nylander at his 11.5.
Knies brings a different element to the top 6 instead of our softy stars.
Okay, I'm being a bit dramatic. 5x7m would be okay, but it again just feels like we are paying a lot from the get go. What is Knies next contract after that? 9-10m AAV?I doubt he'll get that (due to comparable players), but why do you think that (for example) 5 x 7 million is too rich?
Dylan Holloway just walked for this level of offer sheet.0
You don't know what team or gm want, maybe tampa already send something similar but Goncalves looking for maybe a 1/2 max at this salary and bet on himself ...
Just saying 2,34M for an offersheet like this sorry, sorry its pretty hard to imagine its for like max 200K of real money than a player would sign an offersheet somewhere else...
In the 15 games that Matthews missed this year, Marner put up 10G 12A.I know some will disagree, but IMO, marner would not be getting 75 assists playing with non-Rocket winner. He'd still be getting assists, and doing PK duty, but maybe it's 50 assists?
Let’s not start this again. Short term deals on high salary to grab another high salary in a few years. Hard to plan a team that exceeds its cap hit when you are going that. This is starting to get Redick....
I'm all aboard some nhl-wide conspiracy to f*** with the leafs or something at this point...
Toronto a guinea pig to inflate salaries or something?

In the playoffs he scores once a series. In the 15 games that Matthews missed this year, Marner put up 10G 12A.
I think Toews is goingbto surprise with hus play……..
I didn't say anything other than the stat line.So your saying trade Matthews, because marner would score 55 goals without him?
Seems like a sample size that doesn't hold up under scrutiny.
I love Knies as a player but at some point you gotta put your foot down and end the culture of entitlement. You either get money or term on your first deal. If you want 7 mill you're giving us 7 years. If not, then some desperate team will happily sell us the farm for the right to pay you.Respectfully if Knies is asking for 7m on a 3-5 year deal, start shopping him.
Good lord.
I get what you're saying and Knies is currently my favourite player... but don't even make the comparison.Sorry, but I would rather have Knies at 8
