Anyone get the feeling that nobody here really has faith in Tre pulling off anything special?
There are very limited options and the amount of cap space we have scares me a bit as we have the opportunity to do something mega dumb.Anyone get the feeling that nobody here really has faith in Tre pulling off anything special?
You just said yourself Knies is the 3rd most difficult type of player to find after a 1C and 1D. I don’t know in which world Dobson isn’t a 1D.

Apparently Knies and the leafs are far apart with the contract... unfortunately every single player is going to keep doing this to us until we completely reset and get rid of all the core players. The team needs a complete overhaul from ownership to management to players.
I think some team is going to give Knies an offer sheet comes July 1st.Apparently Knies and the leafs are far apart with the contract... unfortunately every single player is going to keep doing this to us until we completely reset and get rid of all the core players. We're talking about a 25 year old that was 8th in Norris voting last year. He's not a #1 D. He has too many flaws to be a #1D. There are like 10 #1 D in the league
He's probably closer to 10 than he is 20 tbh. We're talking about a 25 year old that was 8th in Norris voting last year.
If we're going by your arbitrary claim that there are 10 #1D in the league than I agree he isn't a top 10D today. I do fully believe he is a top 20D in the league though.
Another excuse for players that aren't the core4. Everyone needs to step up in the playoffs -- McMann 20g in regular season, Laughton 15g, Lortenz 8g, Holmberg 7g, I'd expect through 2 rounds, just one of them can score a goal. It’s not the expectation that 4 forwards score all the goals, it’s that when 4 forwards take up more than half the cap it leaves little money left to improve the rest of the team. This is exemplified every spring when the high priced talent disappears. The Leafs don’t need shiny tempermental sports cars, they need heavy duty work trucks like Knies, Florida keeps showing this is the template for success………
I never changed anything, i said 2,34 M will not be good enough to get him with an offer sheet...I like how you changed your tune from him not being good enough to help and now he's too good for Tampa to let go.
I think Tampa can get themselves in a spot where they can't match 2.34M.
Apart from signing any of our own free agents such as Tavares/Knies there's not much to do right now. And quite frankly, unless Tavares is taking less money, there's no point in resigning him for market value.Tre has given no impression that he he’s not in on everything.
He locked up Matthews
He signed for Tanev’s rights
He was in on Markstrom
He was in on Rantanen
He acquired Carlo and Laughton
He will have a seat at the table wherever there is any opportunity.
Into the ground more like it.Bubbles is running it back minus Marner, book it………
Resigning Matthews isn't really something impressive. He couldn't even get him to sign for 8 years.Tre has given no impression that he he’s not in on everything.

If he did he would be god level. Can you imagine mortal enemy turned hero?why would marchand want to end his career trying to resuscitate the leafs?

People are just impatient. He's going to build a majority of the team in FA.. I would have bet though Marchment was going to be someone he traded for, but I guess he has different targets in mind.
How hilarious would it be for JT to say how he wants to play for the Leafs all the way up to July 1st and then sign somewhere else? Exactly what he did with the Islanders.I mean I guess some people want the DNA change, anyone find it slightly concerning there's been no Tavares announcement?
I saw someone compare it to the Stamkos situation of last year, I wonder if it's getting to that point now.
And then someone offer sheets him at $9 million. He doesn't have arbitration rights so we can negotiate him hard and tell him that "This is the offer - let us know when you're ready to sign it" - he can sit otherwise.
