If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Anyone thinking Knies is taking under 9 on a long-term deal is due for a reality check.

I’m a believer in the 3x6.5.

Why would a team like Utah or Detroit not offer sheet him at 5x9.3M for the cost of a 1st/2nd/3rd?

They may but then he has to go live in Utah or Detroit

Lots of people throwing Coyle’s name around, just realized he has a modified NTC and it wouldn’t surprise me if the Leafs are on it.

It’s going to be hard finding someone who can slot into that second line center position.

Remember when every young player made us look foolish in negotiations ?

It’s nice to see that changing hopefully
I have no faith that Treliving will do any better with Knies then he did with Nylander. I am not sure he had the choice but we won't know until we see him cut a deal without Shanny leaning over his shoulder. Changing the DNA might be no different than "everything being on the table." If they can't sign him in the next week then trade him to Utah. The risk of him becoming an offer sheet target is too great to screw around and they have to stop paying the ridiculous Toronto tax on every good player.

Marchment just got traded to Seattle for a 3rd and a 4th.
Would be cool to be able to do these deals if we didn’t trade every single asset for marginal upgrades

(I’m talking about trading our first and second rounders, so it becomes more of a need to hold onto our later picks)
