If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Would you rather have Dobson or Bouchard locked-up for the next 8 years?

Both 25. Dobson is better defensively, but Bouchard offers more offensively.

That's an interesting discussion this off-season as they are both RFAs.
It could be an outlier but 70 points with the Islanders is.... Impressive.

Florida picked up a number of players, from other teams trash heaps, and made them into players... they took some risks, and they mostly worked out. I'm not saying Marchment is going to turn into a star or anything, but we have to take some risks, and find some players who might fit better here. He has his warts, as all players do... He'll cost next to nothing, and provide some good regular season stats.

He, and pretty much everyone here need to find ways to be better in the playoffs... it's kind of a weird a big physical guy struggles at the time when he should excel though... perhaps speed being the issue. But then you can work on your skating to some degree.

But... when you compare what he's paid, to what some of the UFA's will get paid.. it will kind of be a cheap contract. I think Evander Kane is a guy who gets moved as well... perfect... not at all... but he's fast AND physical... a little over the edge at times for sure.. but that's kind of what we are doing this year... shopping at the discount store, to fill a want.

I think there will be a market for Marchment and he’ll get a pretty good return for Dallas, I’m thinking a 2nd a B level prospect.

Kane on the other hand can probably be had for a C level prospect or a later pick, say Tverberg?

Given Kane only has 1 year remaining on his contract, I’ll take that.

Looking at free agency, there's nothing but hopes and wishes.

Sign 4 players for about $14mm and let them fight it out for ice time.
Put the losers on waivers, or waive current players.

And then fight off all the teams that want to trade you their top 6 players for Holmberg and Robertson.

I love Kastelic, I have no idea what he would cost us.

Currently my fav for 4C is Faksa but Kastelic is someone to consider if the trade ask is fair.

I'd be fine with Robertson or a 3rd

I figure we can get a 3rd for Robertson to off-set sending the pick out.
Doubt Boston is willing to part ways with Kastelic, he’s rife with what a prototypical Bruin is……..

Because this team is a winner like he's looking for! 🤣

Maybe Florida should be thinking this, but if McDavid wants to win, Toronto is the last place he'd be looking.
If he ever decides to leave Edmonton, Toronto would be strongly considered. He stated that he has to do what’s best for him and his family. Maybe that means coming home. You’re acting like we’ve never made the playoffs before. With Mcdavid, we would instantly become a serious contender.

And the team he's currently with has been to back to back finals. If he's leaving them because they can't win, you think he's prioritizing a team that usually makes a first round exit?

If McDavid says he’s not going to re-sign, would you as the Oilers trade him or keep him for one more run at the cup?

I think you keep him because he’s giving them the best shot at a cup. You probably go all-in next year.

I'd prefer Kane as well. I think two Kanes on this squad makes some sense, given budget contraints and all.

The challenge is going to be the C spot....

I'd trade him. Think of the return they'd get, even for one year.
