It's a bad idea if the cap isn't going up, and a lot of our key players haven't signed deals yet. But even if the best player isn't going on the market, is it even a bad idea to have cap space?

Again, signing Kane and Toews doesn’t break the bank, that’s like half of what Riley mskes or less…….

Domi bring parr of marner playmaking. Sure Domi is not as good defensively but will not hurt as much than when he's playing at C

bring grit, work ethic/ hard worker, defensive ability with Nylander...I really like Dvorak game for MTL last playoff, it was probably habs best foward vs washington.

Put 2 veteran playing working hard with a promissing young prospect who rememebered me a kind of Darcy Tucker. Despite lack of scoring, ibreally liked Laughton game in playoff and i think as a complementsry player in a line, he can have higher impact

What can it hurt at league minimum. He’s playing better than most of our players did this playoffs. He’s a must sign I think just to teach the guys about what it takes to get to the dance

Our best guys have been in the league for close on a decade, if they need to learn lessons for a 40 year old at this point we may as well just give up and start again

Seems Tre has been trying to acquire another centre since he got here. I wouldn’t be surprised if we were the team offering up a 1st for a 50% retained JG Pageau last year.

As much as it makes me want to puke, Marchand makes the most sense to me as a big ticket FA to use the bulk of the Marner money on. He can still play, shows up in the clutch, would instantly shift the culture, and based in his age would likely demand the kind of term that lines up with our remaining window with this core. Make him an offer he can't refuse.

I wouldn’t mind Brown in a third line role. Maybe something like Cowan - Tavares - Brown would be solid.

Considering the dearth of centers, getting more than one takes the pressure off.

I think both of these guys will be a buy-low situation.

I don't buy the Bennett fantasy, and both Dvorak and Suter are under 30.

Of course I want Bennett and Ehlers.

If we flame out in the offseason and you just resign JT and re-up the RFAs you would have a starting 12, it would be sad, but you have 12 plus maybe Cowan slides in....

And it started year 1 when he signed with the Habs a month later. Tavares injury aside Leafs probably win that series if he is on their side and some of the therapy bills of losing that series goes away. Ugh.

I would rather overpay for 1. Like 8 million if Marner is gone.

Next year the ufa market looks better. Even though many will sign. Still looks better now. Keep your powder dry

Why are posters above slotting in Dvorak as the 2C? He's absolutely terrible.

This past season Tavares outscored Dvorak if you add up his last 3 seasons combined, but let's post fantasy lineups with him at 2C and Tavares as the 3C, lol.

Why? One rides on a team with 2 top 4 players ever in the playoffs and a top 5 d-man in the playoffs while Domi plays with leafs core 5 losers.

Both are complimentary guys, but domi is younger, faster and more skilled.

Put him on EDM and his stats jump high with a core of generational talent

One player has won a Stanley Cup, as well as a Hart trophy, and the other one hasn’t.

The value of Perry is he cost nothing in salary so quality/price is great but if i have to take a player between Perry right now or Domi at same salary, i taking Domi all day long and its not even close. The fact mxdavid and draisaitl help his production change absolutly nothing

The only time Perry plays with them is on the PP, where he definitely helps them by being a net front presence. As far as Domi’s stats since he left Montreal, don’t forget that he got to play with Matthews and Knies for awhile last season, which certainly helped him. Don’t get me wrong, I do like Domi as he does play with an edge (just like his dad did), but I feel more comfortable with Perry, especially considering his +/- stats.

Most of these sample lineups are pretty much running it back and replacing Marner with Bennett or Marchand.

I think as long as Matthews is captain it will never go anywhere. Since it is unlikely they trade it take away the C from him, to change the DNA there needs to be a lot of turnover in the roster.
