What makes you think that?At present I'd wager he's going to test free agency, even if he intends on extending.

He's at the age where he's probably looking to start a family and him and his wife are from Toronto. There's an allure to raising your kids around their grandparents. What makes you think that?
I imagine they are pretty entrenched in their community there. He's at the age where he's probably looking to start a family and him and his wife are from Toronto. There's an allure to raising your kids around their grandparents.
The team is successful because of him. It’s easy to argue that if you put him on 10 other teams throughout the league he would have won by now.I imagine they are pretty entrenched in their community there.
Team is successful, seems like a pretty close group.
Players start families away from home all the time.
It could certainly happen but I would be absolutely shocked if he doesn't re-sign before the next season starts.
It he doesn’t play with Matthews, which as we saw is no guarantee, he is a detriment to whichever line he is on.
His production relative to his inability (unwillingness) to defend makes him a borderline replacement level player. Not on the wing, he isn’t.
The guy has been playing out of position for most of his time here… and still puts up numbers worthy of his contract.
Yes, he's a great player. The team is successful because of him. It’s easy to argue that if you put him on 10 other teams throughout the league he would have won by now.

Kreider is likely a cap dump. No need to include McMann.Guys, I'm going to post something. It maybe a little unrealistic but have it.
Essentially I did McMann + Holmberg for Kreider. They could probably sign holmberg for 1m< which would give them two plays for 2.4m, plus 4.1m of extra cap space for Kreider.
I did the highly talked about Robertson for Marchment.
It's probably pretty unrealistic. But you could do a couple things with this. You could just trade McMann for picks and sign Marchand to Kreiders deal.Guys, I'm going to post something. It maybe a little unrealistic but have it.

Yep, and his comparable didn't want to leave Edmonton either.Arguably the greatest.
Yeah the C spot is the rough one. Ideally we get a third rounder if Marner signs in Vegas. That we could use to get someone like a Pageau.Kreider is likely a cap dump. No need to include McMann.
Also be wary of Suter. He’s Jarnkrok 2.0.
He did want to come to Toronto though.Yep, and his comparable didn't want to leave Edmonton either.
Yep, at the end after bouncing around. Hard to think he wouldn't have preferred just to play his entire career in one spot.He did want to come to Toronto though.
His production relative to his inability (unwillingness) to defend makes him a borderline replacement level player.
If that Ursula looking bastard is right I’m all for it.
If Kreider is a cap dump, could you turn around and use McMann + something else for Pageau?Kreider is likely a cap dump. No need to include McMann.

We've seen the upside for 20 games at the end of 23-24.It really doesn’t.
His defensive issues are magnified when he’s forced to play out of position and out of role. He’s not a center, and he’s not a bottom 6er. He is a top-6 complimentary player.
Put him on the wing where defensive responsibilities are minimal, and put him with a goalscorer to make use of him creative playmaking.
Let's have a friendly wager. I say he leaves Edmonton - you say he stays.Yep, at the end after bouncing around. Hard to think he wouldn't have preferred just to play his entire career in one spot.
I am opposite, he has earned the right to choose where he finishes out his career. In a perfect world for Leaf fans he wins a cup or two with the Oilers then comes home to win one with the Leafs.I expect McDavid to re-sign this summer.
Sure but I hope you're right.Let's have a friendly wager. I say he leaves Edmonton - you say he stays.
