If this team once again fails to proceed very far in the playoffs, what would you want them to do?

Yeah you have to be careful with big contracts for those kind of players. I do think he could be worth it but you absolutely need to get it right. 20 ish points (on pace) last 3 seasons. Not a special teams player as far as I know. Turning 28 years old this month, so lot's of mileage left on him.

I assume he was injured for the Kings playoff run since he didn't play?
He was out with groin injury after blocking a shot.

I like the player but the money scares me, and with major to be made on Knies, Marner and Tavares, no matter what we decide on those, we still need a 2LW, a 2/3C, and a 3RHD more than a bottom 6 forward.

I think those are addressed first, and that we look at Marlies like Quillan and Steeves to round out the bottom lines.

Yeah, he was injured. He also used to PK for the bolts, so maybe Berube could turn to that again.

Anything less than 2 is ok with me. Tre has always employed enforcers and I expect next year to be no different.

Lorentz - Laughton - Jeannot would be a nice 4th line. Maybe Brandon Tanev signs here as well.

On another note, the entire league should hope Bennett signs here. He'll have to clean up his act as he won't get leeway from the DOPS anymore

Trade Laughton and try to upgrade that position. He’s really not that great. Zero offensive threat.

A guy like Nick Paul as a depth piece that elevates his game in the playoffs is what I would rather have (obviously Paul isn’t available but a player like that)

You're not doing better than Laughton at 1.5M and we're unlikely to get back similar value as what we paid for him.

I thought his line against Ottawa was very good.

Rough 1st game outing.

Yeah lower body injury of some sort. He started to skate at the end there but the kings got eliminated. Kings fans really missed him

Agreed. Totally for keeping Laughton. Glad he has term left in his deal.

We need to get rid of Kampf and Reaves Salary off the books. Maybe even Jarnkrok if we can
best thing they can do is turn Robertson, Kampf, Reaves and Jarnkrok salaries into one player next year imo

I think keeping Knies, JT and Lorentz make a lot of sense, I know some of you aren't keen on JT but he's a PPG top 6C and those guys are hard to find, even if he drops to 70 points He's a very good 2C

The big question is does Marner stay? If not what do we do with that money?

Were going to need a firm answer by the draft at least I'd imagine so we can plan

Provorov? Trade Rielly somehow while you can

Mangiapange
Tavares
Bennett

Marner walks (you might be able to get both Tavares and Bennett for what Marner is asking

Not necessarily Leafs related per say, but how desperate would the Oilers be about finding a competent capable goaltender?

Let’s of fat to trim of the roster: I think we can be in good shape cap wise for next year.

Not sure where we find another center. Dvorak, Geekie, Appleton, Bjustand, Roslovic.

No one perfect, but some good players to be had.

Extremely is the word that jumps to mind

There's risk if we get rid of one of ours though, Imagine going to Hildeby instead of Woll

I like Appleton, he's a good 3rd liner but he's a wing imo, Dvorak looked good during the playoffs, could be worth a punt for a couple of years
