Right, because Tony being bought out was a shock around the league. Who saw that coming?

The point was that I said Tony would have no problem finding a job. Not that I predicted "X" amount of teams would be in on him. It doesn't matter how many teams are in on him; when I said he'd have plenty of interest, the implication was that he would have no trouble finding a job with another team. That obviously seems to have been correct since there's been reports linking him to 3 teams and it sounds like he's close to having a signing announced when free agency hasn't even started yet. Christ, the nitpicking around here.

I remember saying Tony would have plenty of interest once bought out and being laughed at.

So far he's been linked to Montreal, Toronto, Carolina and is likely to be signed on the first morning of free agency. I said he'd have multiple teams interested and manage to land a decent contract and people thought it was dumb.

I wonder what leverage he has if any at all.

"Do you want to play pro hockey in North America?"

"Yes."

"League minimum."

OTOH, what to make of that grenade about Georgiev that was tweeted? Maybe teams read that and believe maybe it wasn't all about Tony.

Brooks reports that the Colorado offer for Landeskog is 3x6.3

Did people really dispute that other teams would be interested?

The whole point is that no team wanted to spend assets to take on his contract from the Rangers and the Rangers didn't care enough to pay assets or retain salary to trade him. The buyout works better for the Rangers than retaining on his contract and sending an asset to move him.

Now that he's a FA sure teams are interested. However, it's still a 1 year deal for a guy who put up a ton of points just 2 years ago

Wouldn’t be surprised if Landeskog ends up on the Isles

think Lou could blow that offer out of the water if he wants too

Chytil 2C with Landeskog on wing to take draws.

Anyone find it weird that Brooks is the source on this? Hitting a little too close to home if he’s getting inside info on the Avs negotiations, no?

i wouldn't overthink it

Brooks works NYR beat when he wants to,
but also a writes a league-wide NHL column,
and has been an established NHL writer for almost 40 years,
his web of connections extends beyond NYR

I'd think Drury will do his due diligence in terms of evaluating whether he thinks Landeskog could fit at center.

Players that good don't usually make it to free agency at 28.
