Minnesota isn't taking on that horrible contract of Sean C who was literally benched last year and is injury prone. Hartman also had an amazing playoffs.To be clear, I'm offering this in the context of "Guerin might like this". I'm well aware that Minnesota fans don't always see eye to eye with what their GM wants to do.
Couturier + Foerster + pick
for
Rossi + Hartman
Minnesota gets bigger both short-term and long-term, but gives up the highest potential player and takes on a bit of a risky contract (Couturier 5 years). Everything I've read about Guerin as a GM suggests to me that he's the kind of GM that would want Couturier, even with the 5 year contract term.
Centers = Eriksson Ek + Couturier + Gaudreau
Philadelphia gets the highest potential young guy, brings in a tough veteran to offset the loss of Couturier, and walks away from Couturier's 5 year contract. They lose a bit of size and will now (or very soon) begin relying on Jett Luchanko to bring defensive responsibility and penalty killing to the center position. Hartman plays center sometimes, so they can rely on him until Luchanko is ready.
Centers = Rossi + Cates + ( Hartman / Luchanko )
Coming down the pipeline at the center position... In addition to Luchanko, the Flyers could be drafting a center at 6th overall. Likely Frondell, Desnoyers or maybe even O'Brien. Minnesota has, well, not too much coming at center as far as I know. Yurov is an impressive prospect, but it's unclear to me if he will be playing center in the NHL or winger. I'm assuming winger. Maybe they'll use 52nd overall to draft a center.
Yurov also has a top 4 or top 6 Guaranteed C role already. It's been promised to him.
