Value of: Rossi to Flyers

I like how you changed it from "on our third line" to "as our middle six guy" to make it sound like he wasn't your 2nd line center after realizing you lied about him being your third line center.
He was our 3rd line C for majority games. He played a a stretch of games as a 2C after the Cozens trade. Also played a stretch of games as a 4C. Had one game as a 1C.

So 41-51 points with a high shooting %. He won't be shooting 17.6% every season. Season before was 40 points in 82 games.

I'm claiming he's a middle 6 guy. That's what the numbers show.
Season before was his rookie year, lol.

And I'm claiming that a 2nd line center still qualifies as "middle 6".

And up until the Cozens trade when he started getting carried by better players, he was pacing for 45 points

He was also a 30 point player before this season where he was propped up by better wingers and had a unsustainably high shooting% of 20.6

I'm doing this right, right?

McLeod has a high shooting % because he rarely shoots. High percentage of breakaways. Rossi is the opposite. Most goals are redirections and rebounds. I wouldn't call McLeod a top 6 F or a 2C either.

He played mostly with some combination of Jack Quinn, Zucker, Peterka, Greenway, Tuch

I'm sure you could put McLeod with Kaprizov and he'd get that 60+ point season. Like Ryan Hartman did.

Nobody would call a 2C a middle 6 guy though. A 2C makes 8M+ now a days. Middle 6 guys are making the 4M-5M range. What Guerin is actually offering him

Rossi is better than McLeod. Also two years younger.

I'm sure Kaprizov could increase McLeod's scoring. But Rossi still paced higher than what McLeod scored without Kaprizov. With Kaprizov, it wasn't close.

Not sure McLeod would have gotten anywhere close to 60 playing the last 48 games with what Rossi played with, and through an injury for the last month and a half of the season.

So great, we agree McLeod is a 3C, and Rossi being much better means he's probably a 2C.

So who is making $5.1M to $7.9M?

A 2C is, quite literally, in the middle 6. It is also, quite literally, in the top 6. That's why these rigid categorizations are kind of pointless.

They have colloquial uses that are broadly accepted. While literally 2nd line and middle six over lap. The colloquial idea of a middle six forward is a line driver on the 3rd line or complimentary on the 2nd.

They often have niche playstyles that fill holes. 2-way players, power forwards who make space etc.

I agree McLeod is a 3C. Rossi isn't much better though.

And a ton of those points came with Kaprizov & that he had a really high shooting %. Points don't = role. Sheary wasn't a top line winger because he was near PPG with Crosby. Rossi wasn't bad away from Kaprizov, but he's not putting up 60 points without him. Think he's more in the 40ish point range normally. You'd need Rossi to be with a top-level talent to get that 60+ production out of him.
Can you please stop talking about stuff you know absolutely nothing about?

Gonna be real funny to come back to this in a couple years

Just like the threads of you telling me Fiala was MUCH MUCH better than Reinhart

Don't let this distract you from the fact that just about everything you've said about Rossi is incorrect

Wrong. If Rossi was wearing royal blue you'd have a completely different opinion on him.

If Rossi was on a different team, I probably wouldn't watch him enough to have an opinion on him (like you) and I probably wouldn't be in this thread spouting nonsense about a player I don't watch enough (like you)
