Calgary would definitely be interested in Tarasenko.

Tarasenko for Kylington+ would probably be the offer.

I think Boston would put in an offer for O'Reilly (35% or 40% retained) + Mikkola based around Mike Reilly and one of DeBrusk / Zacha / Smith / Foligno, and then 2023 BOS 1ST and another asset (John Beecher? something else?). As discussed in "Horvat to BOS for winger" thread, if Blues trade for DeBrusk, they can either keep him or flip him for a 1st rounder, OR they can demand that BOS flip him for 1st rounder and then send the 1st in this deal instead of DeBrusk. Blues might not be particularly interested in Mike Reilly, but BOS really wants to move him in the deal.

Mike Reilly
2023 BOS 1ST
playoff team 1st rounder (or Jake DeBrusk, Blues decide which they prefer)
(Beecher/some other asset)
and also possibly a rental forward cap dump (that BOS recieved in DeBrusk trade)

for

O'Reilly 40% retained
Mikkola

I don’t know this person named “everyone”. If you’re assuming that I am somehow panicking you’re making the wrong assumption. I’m not responsible for the Blues success or lack there of.

This is the trade forum with mostly “what if” scenarios.
Why not post trades to address our needs? Find someone better than Mikkola or Borts. Why assume worst? This team came into season expecting to contend and has a bad week in October and we have fans who want to sell of stars. Sad.

The OP literally says "if the Blues are out of the playoff picture". Users are allowed to post a hypothetical thread where the Blues miss the playoffs when we're still in October. If you get triggered don't like it, that's your problem.

You have a problem with this thing called assumption.

If I had input on the decision I would like to see Tarasenko retire as a Blue.

If you want to post threads about upgrading the D I won’t post in it how you must think the Blues are going to win the Cup and should go all in. See how that would be an assumption??

Try to stay on topic. I have already discussed the fact this thread isn’t some kind of panicked post. If you have ideas about what kind of return you would want to see from the players mentioned please chime in. If you are going to distract the thread by making false assumptions please keep them to yourself.

There’s a lot of hockey still to play but if the Blues are out of the playoff picture what would contenders offer for either at the TDL?

i don’t st louis out of the playoffs.

sure they could move Tarasenko at 50%. Unless you take salary back to balance it out youare likely need to include a 3rd pass thru team for retention.

i have looked at real money owed after deadline ehich equates more to what type of pick they pass they team gets.

i recall this from other threads…

Kane has the $10M+ cap hit but because of bonus money his actual annual salary is $2.9M while Monahan at $6M+ cap hit has $6M in real salary paid this year. So bringing a 3rd team todo a pass they retention on either, the return the 3rd teams shoukd be twice as much for Monahan than Kane. This compensation will affect the return the original team gets.

If the blues are out of contention come TDL, I wouldn’t mind them shopping Tarasenko, but I’d hope they keep and sign O’Rielly long term.

Huberdeau needs a center to play with. Flames also need a top line RW.

ROR and Tarasenko to Calgary.

Reilly is a bigger debt to the Blues than asset.

I get the additional asset of a 1st from a playoff team or Debrusk being added. But adding salary for next season while adding a 3rd large cap hit puck moving defenseman hurts us more than it helps us.

We can full rebuild, it would be hard to retool.

I’m not suggesting it as a necessity just solely playing along in the realm of what ifs.

I’d venture to guess this team will bounce back very soon. However, with as big of a question as our defense and goaltending is. I think it’s worthwhile to speculate here.

For either Tarasenko or O’Reilly I’d imagine they would “in this hypothetical scenario” be dealt at 50%. Mind you, these are both top line players. ROR surely fits in a bit better as a shutdown second line C who will produce at 2nd line offensive rates. Ideal for a 2C on a contender.

I’d venture to guess the framework around either of them being moved are a 1st a pretty good prospect and an additional pick. Seems to be the framework. I’d hope the prospect would be a fairly high end prospect, but those are rarely moved.

Adding cap forward is pretty tricky. This forward group is deep and can score. The d core is ok, but signed to term. Our goaltending is shaky but also signed to term. Brings about a real question of what the front office will do if things go south.

I have faith the team will bounce back, I also have no reason not to have faith in Army. But there are a lot of unknowns at this time.

We play couple bad games and everyone panics. So typical.
While I agree and am not worried (we got the Cup, so if we need to rebuild, that’s just the price of admission), it’s always good to know the value of your assets.

Speaking of which, any Dallas Stars fans out there who’d like to talk about their experiences with Armstrong before y’all fired him?

Tarasenko for Kylington+ would probably be the offer.

If you're Calgary trading for Tarasenko, the goal is to improve the team, not add a winger at the expense of a Dman

Lucic + picks/prospects seems more in line with that objective

Doubtful and gross. Given what Sutter thinks of Stone and Mackey, I doubt Kylington is traded at all.

If the Blues are actually completely out of it, then standard rates apply for Tarasenko - high pick, prospect, salary

So something like 1st + Kuznetsov/Poirier/Stromgren/Ruzicka + Rooney
