I don't have cable in my new apartment yet but it's so nice seeing quality hockey talk on the forums again. I'm loving all the progress reports and whatnot despite not being able to watch.

It's that time of the year fellas! Go Leaf rookies!

man these kids look good. by far the youngest team in the tourney and they look better than anyone. even with Rielly sitting the last two games.

impressions:

- stupidly early impression of Bibeau, but I already like him better than Sparks or Gibson. Good positioning, and excellent rebound control so far. Very quiet in net. IMO, sparks and gibson were extremely messy.

- sweet, sweet hands by Matt Rupert to stop a hard pass from his bro in front of the net, and then backhand roofs it just as the penalty expired. I've seen enough from Matt Rupert to want the Leafs to sign him. Him and his bro together are sutteresque.

- Percy is really good. A very underrated prospect. Especially his offensive skills. He's not just a defensive dman. That's 4pts plus a nifty shootout goal for him in the 2.3 games so far.

- Gauthier had a great big-bodied and skilled shift to lead up to that first goal. This kid has a ton of upside.

- McKegg is good.

- Granberg is not so good.

Anyone else not a fan of john abbot?

He's alright. A bit weird in interviews, but for AHL broadcasts, he's pretty decent, IMO. I think he might be doing some midweek Leafs games on radio?

Anyway, caught the last 5 mins of the 1st period. Nice goal by Matt Rupert. I still get confused which one was drafted and which one was invited, but both have been good ;).
