Ugh thought 38 was gonna nail that one with like 10 seconds left...should be an interesting 3rd

It is impressive how low the quality is.
I'd joke that the camera man was using his cell phone... but it would likely be better if he was.

ehhh, **** that. Its pre-season Kings (rookies) and we can watch it at home. :yo:

I'd say it looks like Gila River Arena security camera footage.

Go down to the College and get yourself some broadcast/video interns for cheap. You could probably find people that would do it for free for the experience and to get their face on the camera.

It's cool if you don't want to pay guys to do these, but there are cheap alternatives.

Edit: Game TIME!!!!!

Too many turnovers, shoddy defense, and the goaltending is suspect, though that goal was an absolute snipe.

How's Darren Raddysh (#52) looking?

I think he looks a little clunky and he's had a couple of turnovers and has had his pocket picked a couple of times already. His decision making has been a little slow and his skating is a little clompy. Though, it's just one game, first impression isn't that great.

Leslie has had a very trying day... I like his compete, but feel like he is a step behind.

Dunno what Burke was trying to prove there at the end.

It was an interesting game. I am just glad to see hockey again really :P They definitely looked out of sync and a little green out there. Kids were falling all over the place and they had very little to zero chemistry. However, overall, the prospects, for the most part, looked pretty good individually. I thought Zykov, Forbort, Shore, and McKeown played a good game. Zykov looked like a man possessed and like he was playing against boys at times. He's going to be a pretty decent player, maybe our future 1st/2nd line left wing. Onto the next one... :) GO KINGS!

Who were the top 5 Kings tonight?

Zykov, Forbort, Shore, McKeown, and Auger for me. Zykov was the first star easily. I thought Forbort looked solid and he was skating much better than I expected. Shore looked motivated and was playing smart. McKeown looked good, I constantly mistook him for a forward given his size, fast skating, and skill. Auger had a humble game, but felt he played well and was all the places he needed to be and used his size, though not enough.

The worst would be Bartosak, Sabourin, Leslie, Mistele, and Raddysh.

Bartosak looked very shaky and inconsistent. He made some good saves, but was a little all over the place and hesitant. Sabourin was trying too hard to be something he is not and kept trying to make skill plays. Leslie looked a little outmatched, he played very hard, but couldn't keep up with the Coyotes. Mistele was all over the place, he is much taller than I thought, but he was just kind of running around like a chicken with his head cut off. Raddysh was just bad in my opinion and he made a lot of bad decisions and looked behind on a lot of plays and second guessing himself.

Auger's skating/coordination has really improved from last year. He'll need to lean to keep his head up, got line up pretty bad. That's a bit of an adjustment for big guys. They aren't used to being hit so they don't really look for it and when hit the guy hitting them normally gets the worst of it. That will change if he makes the NHL level.

Zykov is NHL ready...

There was an article on NHL.com about him and Kempe in July and it mentioned that last year Zykov seemed to have outgrown juniors and that due to his age (not turning 20 until May) he can't go AHL and that there wasn't much left for him to learn in juniors.
But he sure seems to have a bright path ahead on the Kings. I know DL is very reluctant to bring players up before they get their AHL seasoning, but I wonder if he really is that good, next year in camp, if he gets a shot.

And BAM!!!! You explained the Cracknell signing! I know right? I'm insane... so check this out... I'm thinking Lombardi is going to target Methot at the deadline... $3M, Lefty, 30, Pretty much a Mitchell/Regehr replacement. In order to pick him up (if my math is right) with 50% retained the Kings need around 360k cap space.

Demote Schultz, bring up McNabb. Then one of Andy/Cracknell makes the team and cap is 458-408K

If Zykov makes the team the cap is at 272k. This would require that Nolan is moved at 700k and replaced by Andy at 550k, in the event that Andy isn't ready Cracknell at 600k would leave 372k on the cap which is about 12k over the 360k DL would need to have 3M (1.5M retained) at the deadline.

If my numbers are right Zykov making the team was a real enough possibility for DL to sign Cracknell... Then I probably messed up the math somewhere.

Edit: Some will point out that Zykov/Pearson/Toffoli aren't fully developed players... and they'd be right. It isn't about fully developed players, but guys that can generate offense while the team can use them in a situation to cover any defensive lapses they may have; at a cap hit less then 1M. Like P.Kane... not great defensively, but matched up against the Kings 4th line it doesn't matter and he can go all out on offense.

I agree with this recap. What's interesting is the "mayor's" game recap just hyped up shore and basically implied zykov was invisible outside of one scoring chance. I was wondering if he was actually watching the same game.
