The Oilers don't really have any bad contracts other than Darnell Nurse and Jack Campbell, and they aren't moving them.
For some reason I thought had one more. I dont know who or why I thought that

I suspect nothing will ultimately happen. Poile has no pressing need to trade Ekholm... if he can draw a truly attractive return like 1st+Broberg, he could do it, but he probably won't "settle" or make any significant concessions, so any buyer would have to really be ready to pay the full price. It's not like he'll panic and drop his price at the deadline like guys with impending UFAs might.I dont blame you for being high on him. I personally think he will be as good (better maybe) as prime ekholm but he is still a few years out before he really hits his stride. So for nashville, i see it as resetting the clock and for edmonton itd be fast forwarding it (hopefully not too far).
Some consider Pulujarvi, Yamamoto and Foegele to be bad contracts. Pulujarvi's is expiring, so that doesn't count to me. Yamamoto is on a down year, but I don't think 3M for a 20 goal scorer is bad. Foegele I wouldn't argue with. I don't agree with it, but due to consistency issues with him, I wouldn't argue if anyone called him a bad contract. For some reason I thought had one more. I didn't say Nashville has to accept crappy offers lolSo...because a team isn't that great right now and may need a possible rebuild, they should agree to give their best players for crappy offers?
Not how that works.
Josi is an elite star in the league on the same level as Draisatl is. But Draisatl only has 2 years left on his contract before becoming a free agent. So as an asset, Josi is worth at least as much. Hence Draisatl was mentioned as the entry point if you wanted to talk about Josi. But in reality, Josi is the Preds' captain and franchise player, he has a NMC that he wouldn't waive to go to Edmonton, so even if you offered Draisatl, it wouldn't be doable from the Nashville perspective.I didn't say Nashville has to accept crappy offers lol
But saying the offers should start with Draisaitl? lol yeah So you guys wants Draisaitl and then some? lol
And if you're rebuilding, why would you want Draisaitl and not picks and prospects instead?
OP's proposal is dumb as hell, but assuming we throw his whole rotten offer out and start with your counter, what's the add on NSH side? Then don't even mention Josi. You don't get to have it both ways. Want a franchise player? Offer a franchise player.
Well, for starters, most rebuilds don't deplete the team of their franchise players. You build around them. This proposal asks for 2 of our 3 franchise players.I didn't say Nashville has to accept crappy offers lol

I frankly wouldn't bother. I don't think selling Josi or Saros makes any sense for the Preds at this juncture and I don't see how moving Draisaitl would reasonably help the Oilers.OP's proposal is dumb as hell, but assuming we throw his whole rotten offer out and start with your counter, what's the add on NSH side?
Yeah, this proposal isn't a traditional rebuild trade, its a Hindenberg-esque, scorched earth, throw the baby out with the bath water and start over from ground zero trade. Those don't happen. Nashville might be in need of a rebuild of sorts, but they still have enough key pieces that some minor changes could get them back to being a perennial playoff team. They aren't even that far out from being one right now. They are 7 points out, a run of wins by them and losses by Minnesota and Calgary could see them fighting for that 8 spot still. Unlikely, but possible. The proposal was built on the flawed thought that Nashville is worse than they actually are.Well, for starters, most rebuilds don't deplete the team of their franchise players. You build around them. So, in the case of the OP's ask, a franchise player, a player to build around, would need to come the other way.
