Yesterday was the best game I’ve seen them play in well over a month.

Hinnestroza’s 2nd goal was lucky, but they generated a lot of good chances.

Kisakov, once he starts finishing, is going to have so many more goals. Kozak will get a lot better next year. Ditto Rosen, who has Peterka’s speed to challenge dmen, he just doesn’t always use it.

Kulich is so polished for his age. I see why he has a shot at making the 23-24 Sabres roster.

They do need real d prospects though.

They need to get Johnson and Novikov to Rochester next season, and use whatever remains of those 2nd round picks following the TDL to draft or trade for Dmen.

I'm not completely sold that Johnson plays in Rochester. He already plays a very mature game and it's not like his body is still growing (like Rosen/Kisakov/etc).

I think we're "doomed" to use UFAs in Rochester on D next year. If we get Novikov, that'd be great.....but Lindgren and Komarov are still 2 years out.

My hope is that we look towards the NCAA Free Agents -- maybe Livingstone and/or Leivermann

It wouldn't surprise if they do but Johnson will be short-time IMO. Novikov would be handy to have another Russian around Kisakov and he's already playing a pretty mature games in the KHL.

I can see them shopping in the collegiate UDFA market too, though my biggest hope is that they land Livingstone out of Mankato and he too would be a short-timer since he might be better than Perbix who jumped right into the Tampa lineup.

That’d be a great get. I can’t imagine Buffalo is high on his list though.

Hard to think people looking at Buffalo's situation don't see they could be part of the Sabres blueline going forward.

We've got a long-term RHD opening and a long-term LHD opening and the only competition to either is Ryan Johnson. Hell, I'm sure some of those guys think "I'm better than Jokiharju.....I can play with Power".

I gotta think we're a prime candidate for upper-level NCAA UFA Dmen.

While the team has been a mess lately, I'm liking Pilut's overall game. He's developed some dink in his game and will take the occasional run at someone to go along with the passing and mobility.

Simpson takes a diving call but Fix-Wolansky takes an even bigger one that they don't call... Weissbach to the box and Cleveland to a 4-on-3 PP with under 10 to play in Cleveland.

Oh and Davies sounds off on the official and gets a misconduct.

Cecconi gets a slashing penalty with only 2:49 left in the game. I've rewound the play three times and don't see the contact so who knows.

Yesterday's press scrum -

- Praise for Kulich at center and he and Rosen overall.
- Wants more offense from the inside.
- Likes their defensive game progression. ( I am sober typing this.)
- Likes the pressure to make the playoffs as a development crucible.
- Proud of the work from Krebs/Peterka/Quinn but doesn't take the credit for their success. "They are earning their place to be there (the NHL)."

Today's press scrum -

- Looking at how to work the lineup to keep them fresh with a three-in-three weekend (Home-and-away with Toronto, home to Syracuse).
- High praise for the Marlies, particularly Logan Shaw but spreads it around.
- "Can't be a good defensive team without your forwards helping." Really Seth. About time.

The Marlies score first, Kulich with the blown defensive assignment as the center on that line doesn't collapse quickly enough to help cover the net front.
