Too old and not interesting. Zero potential value. Last season 25gp 5+5, not so good either. Rubbish. :)

Seriously?

I'm going with this is a joke, lest everyone think you don't know or recognize the value of veteran leadership and what Ellis brings to the table

Do you really think that has anything to do with Cassidy? He went to the WJC and was great, came back and played against competition he was better suited to play against.

It's unfair to assume it had nothing to do with Chadd when he was after all his coach.

Cassidy said #Amerks captainship will be same format as #Sabres: 1C, 2As. No rotation (home/road, co-captains, etc.) - the way it should be.

I imagine Ellis and Bagnall will be two of them. Who's the third? I imagine they'd want someone with a good chance of being there the whole year, so Adam or Varone maybe?

I still assume Strachan will see significant time with the Amerks, so he makes a lot of sense. But if they're naming 3 tomorrow I'd guess Ellis, Bagnall, Varone.

You very well may be joking, who knows, but Elllis is very good in the AHL. Hardly rubbish.

Seriously?

I agree. I think Ellis is a nice leader and a solid AHLer. Stupid to exclude him from the lineup.

"Not interesting" :biglaugh:

@RSandersonWHTK -

#Amerks Matt Ellis on the Frozen Frontier Game - "One of the funnest games I've played in my 13-year pro career.
It's one of the first things that came to mind when I knew I'd be back putting this jersey on this year."

#Amerks Grigorenko -"I'm disappointed that I didn't stay up in NHL, but I think it's a really good opportunity for me to come here."
"I need to play really good hockey right here (with the #Amerks) & that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to work really hard."
#Amerks Cassidy on Grigorenko - "As long as he earns it, he's going to be a guy that plays on the power-play, he's going to play top minutes"

#Amerks Cassidy on #Jackals affiliation - "Going to be really good for the competitive nature of both teams & keeping our players game-ready".
"It's going to be huge," #Amerks Cassidy on new affiliation with #Jackals.
Eventually will keep 13 Forwards - 7 Defenseman - 2 Goalies in Rochester and let the rest get time in Elmira.

New line in practice on Wednesday - Adam - Varone and this guy - https://twitter.com/holcomb12/status/519591170322624514 -
Forget about tanking if we call him up - we are going to win the cup! Just saw the familys last name - I hope his first name isn't George.
Heres another picture - https://twitter.com/AmerksHockey/status/519572379182178304 - kids got a great slapshot!

Larsson(L) - Grigorenko(L) - Armia(R)

Adam(L) - Varone(L) - Dalpe(R)

Carrier(L) - Schaller(L) - Irwin(R)

Rubbish - Rubbish - Rubbish

No-brainer.

What I'd like to see:
Larsson - Grigorenko - Armia
Adam - Varone - Dalpe
Carrier - Schaller - Irwin
Samuels-Thomas - Catenacci - Ellis
extras: Sundher, Kea, Jacobs, whomever else

That's actually some decent depth throughout the lineup. I hope Carrier gets an immediate shot in the top nine.

Have you watched a single game Ellis has played with the Amerks? Or are you judging his abilities based on what he's done in the NHL?
Yes, many games. So what he brings to the team what isn't already there, besides leadership ?

Good play in all 3 zones, responsible, effective defensively, chips in a little offensively. The type of player you have one the ice with a 1 goal lead with 30 seconds to go. He's not a dynamo, but he gets the job done.

If Grigorenko doesn't get top minutes and top PP time from day one, this organization is the biggest  ever.

Nothing is making sense. Now Kevin O is making it sound like Irwin is gone after being one of the Amerks 2 or 3 best players down the stretch last season and after having a great camp. I hope he's just getting a day off. The lines make zero sense. Cassidy is such a detriment to the organization.

@AmerksHockey - #Amerks head coach Chadd Cassidy announces defenseman Drew Bagnall as Captain
while forwards Matt Ellis and Phil Varone will serve as Assistants.

@kevinoDandC - A tiny changeup with the #Amerks captain - Drew Bagnall. A's go to Mart Ellis and Phil Varone.
Coach Chadd Cassidy's reasoning on Drew Bagnall getting #Amerks C not Matt Ellis - Ellis could go up to #Sabres. Praised leadership of both.

Drew Bagnall became #Amerks captain in early January, when it was apparent Matt Ellis' Dec. 13 recall to #Sabres would be permanent.

@AmerksHockey - Drew Bagnall on being named #Amerk team captain -
"It's a huge honor for me, but it could've very easily been Elly or me wearing the C."

The #Amerks have sent RW Brayden Irwin and C Allan McPherson to ECHL Elmira.

If you think Grigorenko being sent down is outrageous, you should be fuming about Irwin.

I'd think at least Sundher, Kea, and Jacobs should be cut/sent down to the ECHL ahead of him. And Grigorenko being put in the bottom 6 again... :shakehead

At least. I love Catenacci, JST, Carrier, and Ailu too but Irwin should be making the team over them as well. Such is life in the AHL, developing prospects > winning.
