Rochester Americans and Jacksonville Icemen 2024 Season Thread.

How was his defense specifically?
Solid positionally…offensively great… somewhat reminded of Dahlin offensively the way he carried the play at least playing at an AHL level… he is smaller and doesn’t have Dahlin’s physicality or grit… but stood out as one of the better players on the ice.

How is Helenius doing? I watched one review on him and the analyst thought Helenius is no longer progressing in the AHL

Eh, some good nights, some silent nights. As one of if not the youngest player in the AHL it isn’t like he had many comps regarding his play, but he likes to draw contact a lot which at his age and relative lack of mature strength doesn’t seem to serve him well.

Amerks South, err Charlotte are in Rochester tonight -

Dalpe, Asplund, CJ Smith, and Kyle Criscuolo all coming back to the scene of the minor league crime...

Jax has clinched a playoff spot already. They've had a very nice season, the downside is that the two best regular season teams in the whole league are also in their division (Florida and South Carolina).

Not sure if I posted this prior -

Unlike the Sabres, the Icemen are 26-3-5 when scoring first.

Fiddler-Schultz gifts Rosen a short breakaway and he's stopped on the backhand. RFS again getting the role Murray would normally on that top line. With Kozak and Murray up, Neuchev out for the year, they are running 11-7 yet again. It's an Amerk tradition.

Not for nothing but they could recall the "other" slow net front guy they have in their system in Nadeau from Jax. He's almost their leading scorer now despite not being down there for the full season.

Speaking of a blast from the past - met one of Andrew Oglevie's cousins in the last few months. His comments about how badly Andrew was concussed were wild. He was hospitalized for a long time from what his cousin said.

Checkers getting good tending - Kahkonen has stopped two breakaways and a couple odd man rushes. Wahlberg also whiffed on one that resulted in a 4-on-1 against that was defended well and broken up back in the Amerks zone.

The kids have collectively had a forgettable 2 periods. Starting the third on the PP but they are 0-for-4 already.

Make that oh-for-five.

Joshua-Dunne-Warren have probably the best forecheck and cycle of the game for the Amerks, Clague and Johnson on the points. And of course they nearly score and then wind up with a penalty out of it as Warren is fighting for position near the Checkers' net.
