Sportsnet: Robertson Thread II: Rejected trade/contract from Kraken and Blues (Mod warning post #1)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
I'm not sure what this dude wants:

- He reportedly turned down 15x8 from Seattle, a no tax state.
- He currently plays a a cup contender from a no tax stat and can't come to terms over a $2 million (reportedly) gap
- He's American so unlikely to want to sign in Canada

Does he want to sign with Real Madrid or something WTF?
It’s not a no tax state for much longer

Like others have stated I'm sure he has his mind made up already.

At this rate he might have to spend one more year in Dallas. Dallas sends him a QO, Robo plays the year out, then becomes a UFA.

maybe he just wants to be ufa next summer & make sure dallas can't gut his destination in a trade.

I do think he's made up his mind already, but there's no way he stays in Dallas on his 1 year QO IMO. They're not going to keep an impending UFA as valuable as he is on their roster knowing that he has a grudge against management and will almost assuredly be leaving for nothing next year. They'll flip him for the best they can get at that point.

I think he does not want to be #1 guy, he wants to play second fiddle.
He'd be one hell of a self aware guy if that's the case. And that would make him very valuable in my books if he knows he's not worth a contract like this. Means he's somewhat humble.

Except if it's Vegas he wants to go to. Then he sucks :p

Seattle is eye-opening. They pretty much gave him the world and he said no. I would've thought that'd fit him well but I guess it'd be hard to predict let alone guess where Robertson ends up.

Gonna make a darkhorse guess and say Philadelphia.
Seems like he probably only accepts a winning team. No idea who that leaves but he joins this group of American players I would really be careful of as a mid tier team

I can see that happening as well. At the end of the day I think he will do whatever he can do to be at his destination of choice. Be it this off season or gutting it out on a one year contract, knowing he will be a UFA next year

...that seems like the type of player I would want most on my team

Robertson is not worth 15 millions. That's all I'm going to say.
They offered Breadman a monster deal and he told them to kick rocks, got less from LA

More a reflection on Seattle being a terrible team with no direction, he sees a team that not only is not a contender now, but will not be for the length of his deal

Would rather have the Tuch deal. $15m for Robertson is insane. Guy never stands out when I’ve seen him play.
