Sportsnet: Robertson Thread II: Rejected trade/contract from Kraken and Blues (Mod warning post #1)

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Would gladly have him on the Sharks but at this point it would only be if he forced himself there and could be had for 9, 27, prospect and then we’d used 2 for Reid. But I don’t really see it and there’s no world we’re trading Misa or Chernyshov for anything other than a #1D.

A lot of what Dallas wants, is what Detroit wants. Much of the compensation for Robertson is getting flipped for Larkin. At least that seems to be what the plan was.

So this deal is even more complicated. Dallas may have themselves a big problem if he’s trying to force a deal to one team. Seattle can still make the deal too btw. Maybe that’s not entirely over yet. We’ll see, but looks like Seattle might have pivoted to Debrincat, knowing Detroit was the one dictating some of the return.
Why would DeBrincat have a different answer than Robertson? If he wants a big payday from a bad team he can get that at home in Detroit.

I think he's going to get traded with no extension/the understanding he's going to take his 1 year QO and then become a UFA, and people are going to be a bit shocked at how little Dallas gets back compared to some other recent trades.

I still think JRobo re-signs in Dallas. He wants to be there. He just wants them to come up on their offer.

He was never signing in Seattle. They suck. And living in Missouri? Nah.

Dallas is sticking to the Rantanen $12M figure. It's a dumb way to go about it in the cap inflation era. They'll settle at $13M.

It's not surprising at all. Seattle sucks. Why would he want to be stuck on a permanently mediocre team?
11 points out of a playoff spot last year. A 15m per year player should help bridge that gap?

If he turned down 15m per with a borderline playoff team, and turned down 12m per with a contender what is he looking for? 15m with a contender? Good luck.

I think he’s going to slow play it and get the 15M offer sheet from Chicago and force Dallas to make the decision for him and be happy either way.

He probably has a very specific team(s) in mind and won't budge until he hits UFA to get what he wants.

Oh wowowow, so he can play on a fringe playoff team. Yeah, that really sells it.

I doubt he is asking for $15M. He just doesn't want to go to Seattle.

In the cap inflation era, $12M is truly a low offer for Robertson. Dallas doesn't want to pay him more than Rantanen, but their line of logic is illogical and frankly just stupid. The cap environment has dramatically changed. He's a prime age player coming off a 96 point season - thinking he's going to sign for a lower cap hit percentage than comparable stars players is just idiot thinking.

Dallas can offer him $13-13.5M and everyone goes home fine.

The $15m figure isn't that surprising. He could sign a 1-year deal and go to free agency next year and get that for sure. There aren't many regular 40 goal scorers in their prime that ever come available.

Nope. Been reported by Friedman there is hard feelings now amongst the parties involved. Robertsons time in dallas is done

Seattle is eye-opening. They pretty much gave him the world and he said no. I would've thought that'd fit him well but I guess it'd be hard to predict let alone guess where Robertson ends up.

Gonna make a darkhorse guess and say Philadelphia.

I'm not sure what this dude wants:

- He reportedly turned down 15x8 from Seattle, a no tax state.
- He currently plays a a cup contender from a no tax stat and can't come to terms over a $2 million (reportedly) gap
- He's American so unlikely to want to sign in Canada

Does he want to sign with Real Madrid or something WTF?

Props to Seattle for presenting a strong offer but I think JR wants to be back in SoCal.
Agree, if he doesn’t sign an extended 12.5 (give or take 500K) he’s looking to just play another year in Dallas then go to UFA or will do a sign and trade with Anaheim and maybe Chicago.
