Incredibly sad news. Lost a good one today for sure.

Not seeing a thread here, I posted this on the mains…

Im shocked.

I just listened to Staples and his pod from last night. It was only 11 minutes long, much shorter than normal and David mentioned that Bruce took ill during the game and wouldn’t join him. David was very subdued during the pod, almost hard to hear at time. It all makes “sense” now. I know their pod wasn’t for everyone, but I enjoyed its quirkiness and detail to important things that often were glossed over by other media.

Sincere condolences to his family and friends and to David , as his business partner and friend. Bruce will be tending goal with the greats upstairs tonight. Have a good game, Bruce. :|

This one is tough for me. I've been listening to him on the cult of hockey for a long time. Always enjoyed listening to him and is someone I have admired as a human being.

Wow, that's terrible. I haven't listened as much lately due to life stuff but I watched Cult of Hockey pretty religiously the previous few years and Bruce seemed like a genuinely nice guy and had a wealth of hockey knowledge. I know he was on the old side so it shouldn't be too shocking but this is a tough one. Condolences to his loved ones

Horrible news. I haven't missed an episode in ages and he was the primary reason I tuned in. Always appreciated his insight and commentary. Didn't know him as a person obviously but just the vibe I got after years of listening to him, pretty certain he was just an all around great guy.

Bruce may have been one of only few Oiler media personalities that was never divisive.

He was great at blending analytics, eye test, old school hockey views, and new school hockey views into his analysis while always wearing his fandom for the team proudly without fear to allow it to influence such analysis.

Truly one of a kind.

Can echo a lot of the sentiment in here. Loved Cult of Hockey, the writing and the podcast. A great Edmontonian. I for one will certainly miss his passion for Oilers hockey. Bruce, you will be missed.
