PLD is NOT coming here via trade unless it's for SPARE parts and a late 1st.

There is NO reason to trade for him, We aren't ready to compete for atleast another 2 years.

we NEED to tank last, this and next year. Sorry.
Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Guhle, Matheson...

Slafkovsky, Barron, Xhekaj, Anderson, Savard, Dvorak...

Then we will add incrementally some (not all will pan out) of Mailloux, Farrell, Kidney, Hutson, our 2023 1st, Beck, Mesar, Roy, etc. In the next two years.

I think it still lack a superstar but its way more of a wild card team than it is a tanking team. Absolutely not a bottom-8 team.

Me thinks if we add PLD in the summer and Mailloux on D we cause some surprise next season...

Kidney has no point today vs Sherbrooke. But was +2

Luneau, a guy I wanted in MTL, has 1g1a. Anaheim was lucky drafting him...especially since they picked Warren before him !!!

So his 21 game streak with at least one point has ended I believe.
Was at the game this afternoon, he had an assist on Luneau's goal. I was looking forward to see him play but although he had a point today and he's been racking up points, I came out not impressed. The way he plays right now won't translate well in the NHL. He needs to improve a lot of areas in his game if he wants to make it. I found him weak on the puck, lacks strength and had trouble making smart, quick decisions with the puck. He doesn't engage physically and lacks explosiveness in his skating to separate himself.

I liked Joshua Roy's game much more and how his game is trending. He scored a nice goal, but even if he didn't, I would have been satisfied with his game. I can tell he worked on his weaknesses this year, he looked much better than when I saw him last year. I saw little details in his game that was not existent in the past, he plays a much stronger 200 foot game. Last year, I tought that he was cheating a lot and caught him on many occasions just waiting for the puck to get to him or gliding on his skates defensively. Now, he moves his feet a lot more, goes after the puck when he doesn't have it and even engages physically to make a play happen. I like his odds of becoming a good NHL player.

I really believe that Roy can be a Toffoli tyoe player. He's super smart, got skills, and not too small. Bedard wanted to play with him at the WJC, I think he has a pro game.

I can see some similarities, both smart players who rely on their hockey sense. Roy does play a game that translates well in the pros. If he continues to put in the work, I can see him making it and becoming the player people thought he could become when he was selected 1st overall in the QMJHL draft.

Not saying that Roy will be more effective than Toffoli, but he has a better range of skillsets offensively. He's a better skater and has better vision as a playmaker. I recall Roy once saying that he models his game after John Tavares. That's another interesting comparison, as players who rely on their hockey smarts instead of speed.

I think the same way, was at the game as well.

I don't think Mailloux is all that close to being able to defend at the NHL level.

So many people were saying that at the start of this year, where are the Habs now ?

If we use Toffoli as a comparison, and I also believe it is a good one, then we must remember that Toffoli spent most of his first pro season and part of his second in the AHL.

Looks like Ramage was visiting Kidney in Gatineau. Kidney is #19 just behind Ramage on the left

He's up to 12 goals, 45 assists and 57 points in 25 games. Impressive

Half the te as m has been on IR isxwhere th wr you've been all year.

But I don't know too many who saw us as a bubble team this year. I see us as a Sabres/Red Wings type bubble team next year if we improve the 3c position by getting Dubois and have better health.

Because we don't have a superstar, we'll need a 3rd line that can score. With the following pretty good offensive wing duos, we'll need Suzuki, Dach, and a Monahan level 3c to be a competitive team:

Caufield - Slaf
Farrell - Gurianov
RHP - Anderson
Heineman/Belzile - Ylonen

Breaking man games lost to injury records. I doubt they had playoff hopes even with perfect health but they would probably have picked 10-15.

Next year they should have more players fighting for spots and fewer vets who don’t fit. It’s not the end of the rebuild, they’ll likely be a bubble team with no cup aspirations, but it may be the end of lottery picks.

The habs still lack elite talent. We’ll see if stacking up enough pretty good players will work for them.

Which injured players would have brought them to 10-15 ? Caufield would have more goals but likely to the detriment of other players who gained ice time. Edmundson has not been stellar since his return.

The Habs are not nearly as good as the Sabres or the Wings. Allen - Montembault have stolen a few points but else MTL would be closer to CBJ. They are outshot a lot, don't mange to get puck possession or have a stable defensive system...

I wanted Luneau as well and was the guy I originally was cheering to fall to the Hutson pick. Once he was picked I was all for Hutson but was also on board with Nelson, Sykora and and lastly Odelius if they did not take Lane.

Riley Kidney finishes the season with 110 points including 82 assists in 60 games. I don't know his upside but as a fan I don't think he gets enough credit for having put together 2 excellent seasons to close out his junior career.

I don't like his game, but the production is very impressive.
