100% Jack as EBUG. once they can run freddie-raanta or vice versa, you send pyotr down to win the calder cup and get more playoff experience / get more starts.

If we have to use the EBUG, we take that loss and call pyotr back up the next day. the starts in the ahl will help keep him sharper than sitting in a closet during games on the main roster. if we have to use the EBUG in an elimination scenario, then it is the will of the hockey gods for us to lose.
yeah this seems the right move.

It didn’t go unnoticed on the ESPN broadcast. Ferraro was gushing about him a number of times.
Yeah, I got a laugh out of how the praise just kept escalating. The first mention was "one of the best defensive defensemen in the league". Then it was "Slavin is maybe the best all around defenseman in the league". Later in the game, "Jaccob Slavin is the perfect defenseman".

The way that teams play UFA, at least IMO, has a lot to do with who's actually available on the market. I don't think that Dougie leaves for New Jersey if the only alternative available in UFA was Tyson Barrie, which it was going to be if DeAngelo wasn't bought out. Teams, even a frugal one, will give the big bucks if the team is in win-now mode and if the commodity is scarce.

TDA's play on the ice was never the problem. It was his off ice antics that constantly got him in trouble. As long as he keeps his nose clean in that regard (and he has thus far), he'd be welcome in 31 other locker rooms.

That being said, we were warned about Alex Semin, we gloated how wrong Caps fans were when he started playing here, and then when we signed him to a long term deal, Alex turned back into a pumpkin.

I don't think that'll happen with TDA, but it's certainly a possibility the Borg should consider if they're planning on offering him a long term deal. Especially since politics played (at least a part) in his off ice antics and it's likely this upcoming election won't be any less... contentious...than the previous
Except the people in Carolina (outside of twitter) won't be nearly as offended by those politics as the ones in NY were. In fact you could argue, the exact opposite.

Really gotta hand it to Raanta, he was rock solid in that game and in this series as a whole. This is why they went out and took the risk on him, and it paid off.
This so much. How many soft goals did he give up in the wins? Very close to 0 if not 0. No weird shortside goals. No floaters he wiffed on. Nothing leaking under an armpit. On top of some robbery.

Felt like the Bruins had to earn every goal, and that's huge when you're the favorite. Especially after Reimer/Nedelkovic/Mrazek, who all could play very good, but could also cost you the game.

If Auntie had the rebound control he had in game 5...... We'd be sitting high. His best game was game 5. Second best last night.

And also the league is starting to see what an absolute prick Shisterkin is. We all heard the rumors about that incident, and after seeing some of the things he does, I'm more inclined to believe them.

Yeah, not fitting in in some locker rooms in sports just isn't the red flag it is with others.

When Panarin is making 11 million a year, and the goalie tandem is both Russian, there's probably a clique in that lockerroom, if there's a dispute, you don't want to be on the other side of that group.

Twitter was where he got in trouble though. As Sens said earlier, his political stance probably isn't too different than most NHLers/management. They're almost entirely rich white dudes. It doesn't take a genius to figure which way they might lean.

It's when your political stance becomes an unwanted distraction that it becomes an issue. And unfortunately for TDA, he did what he apparently has a history of doing: He acted before he thought things through. And even then, the Rangers gave him another chance, but basically said "You're on thin ice. Don't become an issue again."

And then he fought his goalie after a game like two weeks later.

TDA is everything we could have hoped he would be for us and more. Never would have thought he would be one of our more consistently good players and very much a leader in only good ways. For everything people were worried about (myself included) he's fully answered and then some.

Those who keep bringing up his past at this point as some indictment of him are just venting or pushing some kind of non subtle agenda.
rchand on the Bs too no? Transgressions for sure that he never lives down. But bostons best forward

One piece of the TDA story in Carolina that I don't think can be overstated is the impact Rod has had on him and the mentorship he's provided. Rod saying "We have a lot of conversations" in recent PC and TDA in interviews expressing deep respect for Rod - it seems like it's grown into a pretty strong mentor/mentee relationship.

I also have a crush on TDA but that’s another issue lol.

Also does anyone know if there’s a way to watch the Ballys replay for those out of market? Was interested in doing a rewatch with that version.

If you have ESPN+ package I believe you can watch in 2 days. I just watched the Oilers-LA game from a few days ago. Original broadcast, Canadian and LA versions were available.

I thought that Smith Elbow could and probably should have been a suspension, so only a fine is a little surprising. Then again, the NHL has admitted that the bar for suspension is a lot higher in the playoffs.
Yep. Either play in the regular season that's a game if not 2-3. Playoffs? I mean f***, Scandella didn't even get suspended for literally trying to break a guys ankles.

No doubt, he’s been quite good. For $1m and an $8m difference between him and Hamilton? He’s been out-of-this-world in terms of value. It was an amazing move by Tulsky et al.

That value comes down significantly as he gets paid in a long-term deal.

As far as the locker room - suffice it to say, if one had a birds eye view of the “politics in the locker room,” TDA wouldn’t be an outsider at all. From what I was told.

Which shouldn’t be all that surprising, honestly.
Really? I find that that astonishing given that there are so many Europeans on the team.

I'm all for resigning Tony Deangelo. We gave him a second chance and he has really revitalized his career here. I do not mind him at all. I love what Jordan Staal said about him after his antics in game 4. He said that he loves the way Tony plays and that he was very competitive and just wants to win and will do whatever it takes.

Who cares what opposing fans think. Having the support of your team and especially the Captain is what matters.

Also, don't know about you guys but I'd like us to resign Max Domi too. He constantly raves about playing for Carolina and Rod and how he enjoys it here.

I know everything is up to management but I would not mind if we bring him back. he can be a 3rd or 4th line player.
