Proposal: Ridly Greig for a winger or RHD equivalent

Greig is a good player, but I feel he's overshadowed at his strongest position which is playing as a Centre. Does anyone who needs a 3C that's cost-controlled and young while having a good middle 6 young cost-controlled winger or even a 2nd pairing cost-controlled RHD that they're willing to trade for Greig?

Sens have Yakemchuk at RD coming soon, so trading Greig for a RHD seems a little short sighted IMO.

A LW could make some sense but it would need to be someone that is a good amount better that Greig is today, without being too old. A random example without aiming too high would be someone like Joel Farabee.

There's also the issue of cap space. The Sens basically have none, and Greig makes peanuts ATM.

I'd trade Greig for a young cost controlled LWer that's skilled without being soft.

No reason at all to trade Greig unless it's for a markedly better young player. Hard to think of a player on the trade market that would make much sense.

I'm comfortable with Greig playing any of the forward positions anyways.

Yeah. Between Zub and Yakemchuk coming, trading for a RD at this point is probably throwing a temporary patch on something that will hopefully work itself out eventually.

And as also mentioned above...it's entirely plausible that Norris continues to be an injury risk. Where having that extra guy who can play in the middle and slide up the lineup a bit, could be pretty huge. I think that's the more valuable position to maintain some depth at. Especially if it's young, cheap depth with versatility.

As an outsider, if the Sens are looking for a cost controlled 3rd liner, they should keep Greig. Of course, if a GM offers something ridiculous, trade him.

What about Tyson Foerster? A winger with good size, same age as Greig, scored 20 goals last season, but it looks like he doesn't get along with Torts well.

Not sure what the Flyers fans think about this though. I personally think the trade is pretty reasonable, Philadelphia needs centers.

In all honestly, IDK much about Foerster - but at first glace this seems reasonable at the very least.

Da Big Apple
Othmann + Vesey
for
Grieg + minimal cap dump

gives quality W prospect we think is/is close to ready now for breaking on elc
Vesey is decent add for 4th line

Grieg is ballpark comparable and Rs are losing elc -> rfa rights upon deal expiring this year.
But could use a pivot
and
moving Vesey creates mins for Brodz, Rempe

I don’t see us trading Greig at this stage.

Giroux is getting older and who knows if he stays.

Perron is getting older and who knows how he plays next season.

Norris is often injured. Pinto misses time as well.

Greig will stay in Ottawa.

He’s been playing below his usual level of play this season, I think partly because he’s playing RW and has never played RW in his career. Not only that, but he’s matched against top lines.

Green needs to put him back to LW on a checking line.
