Others may disagree... Nash seemed to have two modes in Columbus (for whatever reason - nagging injuries? mood?), normal mode and what I would call "Olympic Nash". Olympic Nash is an absolute beast of a player, normal Nash - not so much.

In Columbus, the other team only had to worry about Nash. His teammates tended to feed him the puck continuously and expect him to score. He would pass to others to finish and more times than not, they would flub it.

Over time, Olympic Nash made fewer and fewer appearances. Perhaps Olympic Nash is making his presence known for now. And, for the good of the Rangers, I hope he keeps it up.
 
How is he not being at least fined for that? If a Panther had done that to Nash or Cally, we'd be screaming for 5 games.

He has no prior history and it clearly wasnt intent to injure. I agree he should get a fine a short suspension. As you said we would be outraged if it happened to us. He left his skates and raised his elbows to head leave. I dont think he should have the book thrown at him because intent wasnt there but this is bad.

Simple question here, but how the heck did the Rangers turn into a one threat team? If anything, they seemed to be a prototypical Eastern Conference powerhouse with no weaknesses everywhere and enough depth to score and grind it out. It's like you guys got trapped trying to play Bruins hockey or something.

As far as Rick Nash goes, I've never been a fan. He seems to get into a lot of these "man-alone" situations and looks like a hero on a sinking ship as opposed to a guy who elevates the energy and play of everyone around him.

We'll call him Carmelo Nash. He's certainly not in the class of Lebron Crosby...

They lost a lot of "strength" down the middle. When we dealt Dubi and Anisimov we lost two players who could play center when other guys were struggling. Not saying they're key players, but the ability to rotate guys in and out was an underlying factor to our success. Stepan has been our only reliable center for a large portion of the season. Richards is a ghost. Gaborik needs someone to get him the puck in open ice and Richards isn't able to do that.

Nash has been fantastic when he's playing with guys like Stepan and Hagelin. Until the last couple games, he was easily our best player night in and night out.

So to summarize Richards is dragging down Nash and Gaborik . Coaching staff solution play all 3 together and stifle the whole offense ...... Brilliant

Nobody is.

But he's easily Rick Wade (Dwyane Nash?) Even after having a ****** game for most of last night he tops it off with a great pass to to Gaborik. He does things all the time and brings more than just offense.

It's a shame his first year with the Rangers will be this abomination of a season and the one where Richards decides he's done being a #1C. We would've won the cup if he was here last year.

They turned to a one threat team when Richards, and to a lesser extent, Gaborik, decided not to show up this season.

Also, Nash clearly elevated the play of Hagelin and Stepan earlier in the year. I don't think anybody could elevate the play of Richards right now. Gaborik is at least starting to do the things that made him successful in the past.
 
Definitely warrants at least two games, perhaps more...looked totally premeditated. Cannot possibly imagine why Nash did that.
 
The thing that gets me about his hit is that it seemed pretty late on top of being high and from behind. The puck was out a good second or two before Nash hit him. Seemed completely avoidable.
 
Nash didn't deserve a suspension. Perhaps a minor penalty...but nothing more than that. Watch it in real time...in slow motion it looks like a premeditated neck/head shot.
 
Not malicious but... what's the word they use? reckless.
Not a repeat offender, no apparent significant injury/time missed.
Big man on a bent over forward.
Dangerous and warranting of a minor for elbowing.
Star treatment. 1 game would have probably been the most but went with 0 and the lack of a phone call altogether. Star treatment? maybe at the last deciding moment of making a phone call with 25% chance of handing out a 1 game suspension or not. Over all, they still approached analyzing this objectively.

I would have given 1 game but like the courts and the justice system, you can't go with the sentiments of the situation as opposed to the facts and the facts were interpreted by Shanny differently than most people and perhaps with a bit of star treatment.
 
Nash deserved to be suspended on that hit? Principal point of contact wasn't the head. Its a joke. All of the hockey writers and bloggers on twitter get paid(maybe not the bloggers but they don't blog for free)to cover the sport and they don't know what is worthy of a suspension. Shanahan is old school. Kopecky had that hit coming to him. In the first period,DZ elbowed Kopecky in the head on Thursday night and he lost his helmet. Then Nash delivered the hit to the Kopecky's back. There is a history here. Last season.



Go look at why Chris Neil avoids suspensions. He doesn't target the head. He may ride up and hit the head after hitting the shoulder. Nash didn't make contact with the head.
