  • We're expeting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
What Tampa did with Kucherov only worked because it was a short season. He would have definitely been ready to go on game 60 or 65 of the regular season. It would never fly in an 82 game season. It's way way to obvious. JT misses all 82 games then all of a sudden he is playing game 1? It's just too blatant. The league will have to step in then, just like they did with that blatant Kovy contract years ago.

Team will be in tough to make the playoffs with everyone healthy all year. Relying on whoever will be their 3C to be their 2C will be suicide.

Tell your captain to sit down for a season so you can reallocate his cap hit? Never fly.

If you can take his 11M and use it elsewhere, you absolutely can. We can make a play for Danault to temporary play 2c til JT is back + another player or 2

And how do you acquire these players exactly? Let me guess, you pitch this scheme to higher quality UFA's so they understand TML can only afford them for one year. That better be one hell of a powerpoint presentation.

The reports we have indicate that the concussion wasn't that bad. He seemed to have had his bell rung, looked way worse because the trainers let him try and stand up before he was ready.
The reports indicated he was symptom free pretty much right away. Without symptoms he probably would have come back in the playoffs if the Leafs weren't a bunch of useless bums. Why would he rest all summer and still not play next year?????? Makes no sense.

First of all, Toronto is not Tampa Bay, and secondly, you can't try to copy all their little quirks with worse ingredients and expect to have success.

so you are going to convince the league that a guy skating in game day skates in may needs to be placed in IR for a calendar year? ye good luck with that. even if you could do it, why would you? this is just all around awful tbh.

I think we all agree it CAN be done but it’s a ridiculous idea. Imagine explaining it to the rest of the team. Imagine Tavares showing up cold
I don't agree at all that it can be done. How are you going to convince a healthy player to sit out for the season, while also convincing the league that the Leafs should get cap relief?

Every player does baseline testing. That’s what the players do in the “quiet room” before they can come back to play.

It actually would be theoretically possible to fake your way into missing significant time, but that would take both Tavares and Dubas telling a lot of lies, and neither guy seems like the kind to go along with that.
Like that time they buried Lupul against his wishes

so your solution is to replace a point per game center and leader in our dressing room, with phillip danault...in a scoring role? you might as well put nylander on the IR as well in that case since you are crippling him on the ice playing with that blackhole.

Tavares’ skating has already turned to dog poop. He isn’t Kucherov who can tale a season off and not miss a beat. Tavares’ takes a season off, rapid deterioration of his skills will increase to an even quicker degree.

...equals the end of the thread.

Tampa won two Cups in a row in the most unusual circumstances. They won within the rules. They won by trading for talent appropriately evaluated. They won with foundational pieces they drafted and cultivated.

Hell put all 4 of them on LTIR, use the whole $40M to pick up 5 $8M players and then bring the core back as 3rd liners for the PO's

lol, i cant believe we haven't thought of this before, we could just guarantee players a high base salary to sit for the year, put them on IR until the playoffs then roll em out. 4x 1st lines? yes plz. SIGN EVERYONE!!!

AGAIN with this thread! :biglaugh:

No, again. We would not even make the playoffs. And the same answer than before this thread: Johnny would be the FIRST man on the ice during our reg.season. Just like he almost was back for our playoffs already... he would have played on the second round, easily. Killin it. Big TYME baby. Johnny our captain, he ain't no sit downer. FOR LIFE SIRE. FOR LIFE:

Head Injury. Migraines and virtigo..... Crosby has been out for a while season when he got concussion and kept experiencing side effects after and found out he had a neck injury aswell.

The way John went down he can say he's still not ready to play or have him try playing and just keep saying he's not feeling well until they have to put him on LTIR... They can't really measure that and can't force him back.. the collision was GRUESOME to watch so if there's a hearing date on it they'd have to sit and watch that injury again.. and have to take John's word for it.. I'd assume.

I say go for it.
Bad idea.
