What kind of a question is this? We just traded a conditional f***ing 1st rd pick for Copp. You obviously re-sign Copp.

Hope he was worth it.

Looks like Strome's mom is a regular here.

Strome and Panarin were embarrassing last night and have to be broken up. Of course of course of course, they got the lucky garbage time goal to make it look like they contributed.

Copp has only played one game for the Rangers. He played as a winger.

We don’t even know if Copp is a center on this team yet. There is no evidence. Only evidence shows him as a winger that can take faceoffs.

I don’t care what the Rangers paid for him, if he is seen as a winger, I am not tying up cap in another winger, regardless on if they keep Strome or not.

He’s a center, in the pregame he told gallant he’s a center….he took numerous face offs last night and won 53% of them

He played wing because gallant asked him to

Copp over Strome. He easily the more rounded player and can actually play center effectively. Strome is better suited on the wing and we have enough of those making good money.

Who was the last player on this team to have those kind of point totals and still be universally disliked by the fanbase? Nedved maybe?

Honestly couldn’t tell ya. I only started following the Rangers a few years ago when I started living in NYC half the year.

f*** only this year I’ve felt like I’ve known the team well enough to start commenting on the Rangers board. Even still I’m more of a lurker

My hope in bringing in Copp before the deadline was that it would allow us to ditch Strome this summer. Then next year we slide Chytil into that 2C spot with Panarin and Kakko while letting Copp center a really strong 3rd line with Goodrow and Blais. Then eventually Goodrow can slide down to the 4th line and Othmann can step into that 3LW spot. Still hoping it works out that way.

If Chytil can't embrace that spot, Copp is perfectly serviceable as a 2C until we can properly address it and he fits into a 3C role far better than Strome does.

It sucks because he started the season great. They he was playing made me want to keep him. But once Bread’s game fell off so did Strome. Time to move on and for love of god try for a game breaking them up. Its hard to watch them at this point.

It’s way too early but Copp showed last night just all the things that Strome is lacking. Copp seems like the type of player that you put out on the ice in literally any situation and you know what you’re getting. I’ve always been a proponent of Strome but his game is no where near as complete.

I despise Ryan Strome, so would default to Copp even though there is zero sample size to go off of. I'd really prefer to see what pops up during the off-season and go from there.

Neither!!! if Copp wants any more than 4.5X 4 years bye bye. Sam Bennett deal should be what is offered .
Strome you've done pretty well here thanks but gotta move on!

I need to see more of Copp, but based on his scouting report, age, and likely cap cost, I'm definitely leaning in that direction.

So he’s a winger. He played wing. We literally have not seen him play center as a Rangers.

This is an example of why this thread is way too early.

I do like Ryan Strome.

I like his chemistry with Panarin
I like that he plays all situations including PK and PP
I like his leadership
I like his mannerisms and interview thoughts

I also hate Ryan Strome.

I hate his incessant needless stick checking penalties
I hate his 'forechecking'
I hate his Zibanejad-Panarin esque aversion to coming into contact with players- he's not quite good enough to play that style.
I hate his struggles in the faceoff circle

So I voted Copp. For a couple reasons.

1) I'd rather have an honest two way center at 2C if Goodrow is going to remain a winger.
2) If somehow we develop an up and coming offensive 2C out of the blue, there's no harm playing Copp at wing or even on the third line. He's versatile like Goodrow and that's so valuable.
3) Copp will cost a little bit less and a little bit less term.
4) Copp is a first choice PK option and second choice PP option. Replacing Strome who is a third choice PK option and first choice PP option means Lafreniere/Kakko can join the top unit. That would do wonders to bring along their vision and chemistry with our big guns.

NYR should take a look at someone like Stastny or some other wild card to try-out as 2C for cheap on a one year contract next season. If they struggle- elevate Copp. No problemo.

Copp and Goodrow become your first choice PK guys for the nest 3 seasons. Then Zibby and Kreider, then whomever is on the 4th line.

I don't think 1 skill center, one two way center, and two 'grinder' defensive centers is as big of a problem as others think it is- unless Zibanejad gets injured. In either event, I'd still be in the market to move Nils or Jones for a ELC center with top 6 potential.

he played center last night on multiple shifts, i understand small sample size but hes a center
That’s not enough of a sample size. He has played less than one game at center as a Ranger. This is a big decision that they have to make. Can’t just leap into it and throw Strome away.
we have seen Strome play center tho... easy choice
It is not an easy choice. Strome has his warts but we know what he is. We know he can center a Hart candidate.
