Hyman.

Answer would be Rielly if he didn't get that high ankle injury years ago.

So i had not yet done an armchair GM this year, and I was sort of pleasantly surprised when I did. I made some assumptions:
- $82.5M cap next year, that was the most recent projection I could find
- 20 man roster
- Hyman signs for $4M. That might be light, but he seems like he would take a discount
- we spend $5M on a goalie, whether that's Andersen or another, the cap hit is maintained
- bring back: Spezza, Thornton, Boyd @ $750k (league min), Simmons & Dermott @ $1.5M
- Let Liljegren have the bottom pair RD spot @ $863k

this situation brought us in at $11k under the cap with 12F , 6D and 2G. It also left Kerfoot on the roster who makes $2.75M more than the min, and there is some additional "fat" with Simmonds, the goalie position, and maybe the bottom pairing D.

Assuming you get a small rise again in the following year cap, I think there's room for both and neither is the one I would choose to move on from before the other options

There is no cap increases coming. This week it was mentioned that the cap will probably be flat for four years despite the TV Deal.

yup , the owners are going to want to recoup the money they've lost during this pandemic and the 20% escrow the players are eating doesn't come close to covering that in the short term

Rielly and it's not even close .

Hyman's improved this year but people need to stop overvaluing energy players and at 29 if/when he loses a step he'll be a huge anchor if the team signs him to a long term deal .

I know it's about the cap, but the two situations aren't really related. Hyman would have to price himself out/be made expendable by the likes of Mikheyev and Robertson on the wing. Rielly would have to price himself out/be made expendable by Muzzin, Dermott and Sandin at LD. With the decisions having to come in different offseasons, I hope there's a way to retain both players.

Muzzin is the clear piece that gets moved.

Would have two years left on his deal with the majority of it paid out.
