If you’ve watched Igor’s last what 4 games now? Buffalo was a bit iffy to start but then he basically willed us to a win… if you’ve watched his last 4 games it’s easy to see why guys like me are so disappointed when he plays 15 20 games like he did. Absolute nonsense when he’s capable of being THIS guy.

If he gets to his level he’s our best player. He hasn’t been all year.
Mahomes is playing like nonsense too. I’m so angry with him. He needs a timeout.

Caps broadcast said we are #1 in the league for completing cross ice passes, average of 7 per game, cool stat. Probably includes PP but who knows. I've also heard their broadcast discuss offensive zone possession time as a raw per game number, another interesting stat.

I never hear anything interesting like that from Joe, only gives dumb stuff like PP, PK, or faceoff rankings all day. I'm sure he has access but is told by the MSG higher ups to KISS (keep it simple stupid), don't want to alienate NFL fans who accidentally landed on the broadcast and wouldn't understand what a cross ice pass is, leave that for Vally on the post game show (which I rarely have time to watch).
Bingo. The other day on the ESPN+ broadcast Ferraro pointed out where the D-man is on the Rangers 1-3-1 and how that helps with puck recovery on dump-ins. We never get anything like that from the MSG broadcasts ... all they bring up is (as you say) PP, PK, faceoff %. And Hits & blocked shots.

One would never know there is anything more to hockey listening to Joe on MSG. It's bizarre because he has been better on non-MSG broadcasts ... Seems like it's the company that wants this baby-brained stuff.

Sam might have a doctor's note to avoid anything too strategic being discussed on air or his head might explode, that puts Joe in a box. It's hard enough to detect post hits.

MSG gives us things like the Honda Keys to the Game, the Taco Bell Take, who’s related (or not related) to who and what former team every player ever played for.

And Blueshirts Bar. No other broadcast has that.

Current shift length is now all the rage to show at the top (Joe telling us the PKers are tired after a minute + of zone time is no longer necessary!)

Arrows showing which players on the ice for the faceoff, what a joke.

Oh and the miles a player has skated that game, very insightful *eye roll*

Easy AF

Would really like to see a better quality vid about the Wilson-Trouba incident. It could be incidental, but knowing Wilson...

Looks like Wilson did nothing wrong to me, and i hate Wilson

Miller - Fox
Gustafsson - Trouba
Lindgren - Schneider

EZ Cup
My only concern is that even though he isn't a big guy Lindgren sticks up for Fox a lot. Miller ain't that guy.

I see everyone having to stick up for lindgren a lot more than he sticks up for anyone else.

Washington hammers him every chance they get. They lick their chops when playing against him

The second act of Jimmy in NY has been something to behold. Pretty ironic bc by the time we traded him to Buffalo I think most of us were like “good riddance” because of his usage, myself included.

Him reinventing himself as a bottom six depth guy has been great to watch. He’s an absolutely elite 4th liner and he can really plug in anywhere in the lineup.
Some folk still don’t understand the value of the new Vesey. If by necessity Vesey is moved up the first thing that comes out of their.... posts is “Vesey is nothing but 4th liner bum...”

I just look for the first sign of a slump after a player reaches 30 and — perhaps too soon in today’s NHL — write him off / assume he’s started a secular decline. Perhaps that should be 32 now, with ever advancing medicine and treatments.
Decline rarely looks like a cliff dive. The typical pattern for the beginning of a decline due to aging (of a star player) includes hot start to the season and then gradual decline from about the middle and toward the end. Eventually this hot start gets shorter and shorter (in some cases gone completely)

I was saying that when he was inserted into the top 6 early last season. L take

Well, it was completely warranted to bag on his lack of 5v5 scoring. I mean you just did it above. There were a few that were harsh, but most of it was totally nail on the head. He WASN'T producing... and he caught shit for it.
I’m sorry but his slow start also included abysmal conversion percentage for his line so at least partially his low production was due to luck rather than his performance. His raw total production wasn’t too bad either as he was contributing with points on PP and part of a strong PK play.. Also, what was posted wasn’t just basic criticism of his slow start - there was a lot of uncalled for shit thrown his way.

I’m aware of what his line was doing. Not putting up any points at 5v5. It’s why Kakko was moved off of the line.
I do t focus a lot on the “extremes,” both negative and positive, people get up to on here. Anyone saying “he sucks” “he’s cooked” or suggesting we should trade him were obviously a bit looney, or at least mistaken, and to my eyes were outliers. But anyone saying he was not doing what he needed to, and that the team needed him to be way better at putting up 5v5 points was “dead on balls accurate,“ to quote Marissa Tomei in My Cousin Vinnie.

If it’s a spectrum of opinions then acknowledging that he was underperforming during that stretch and that he’s bound to bounce back (try saying it 10 times haha) would be the extreme positive take during that time. The overwhelming majority of takes were pretty vicious for no good reason.

PS Just to be clear - In no way am I implying that you were among those people.

zib and Kreider are two of the streakiest players I have ever seen. Their lows can be so bad and sometimes in the midst of them I can’t help but think “Jesus Christ we rely on these guys??”. But then Zib will go on one of his month long heaters usually including a game where he single-handedly raises Carter Harts sv% by an entire goal

And at the end of the season Mika will have close to 90 points and Kreider around 40 goals once again.

Understood, bud. Yeah, people can go a “little overboard“ round these parts. Hahaha.
