Nieto cannot play in the NHL, he's on an ATO.

Right now this is our depth:

Havlat - Thornton - Burns
Marleau - Couture - Wingels
Galiardi - Pavelski - Sheppard
Desjardins - Gomez - Burish
Kennedy, Tarasov, Kearns

Ick.

Theoretically, DW can sign Nieto to an NHL ELC at any moment, correct?

I was definitely 100% serious about Nieto.

Funny that you've bemoaned Clowe all season and are now horrified that he got some draft picks as a pending UFA. I don't even....

Thanks. So those saying he can't be called up, it's not exactly true. He can be...just has to ink an NHL ELC, which I'm sure if presented to him (in the context of, we want you up in the bigs now to help us) he'd sign without blinking.

And as others have mentioned, it would burn an ELC year.

Do you really want to burn a year of his ELC this season?

Of course Nieto would sign without thinking. DW would be the one to hestitate. Wasting an ELC on a very partial season probably isn't worth it.

Given how the team is playing now, yes. We can rebuild and make a run for it at the same time:

Havlat-Thornton-Burns
Marleau-Couture-Wingels
Nieto-Pavs-Sheppard
Galiardi-Gomez-Desjardins

Call me crazy (And you will), but I wouldn't mind this being the forward lineup for the playoffs. I'm also anxious to see Nieto in SAN JOSE Teal.
