1) can you show me any screenshoot where his elbow touches his head at any point? Im not even asking if main contact is head (its not)

2) can you show me a screenshot of his feet leaving ice before contact (you cant)

You would have a point ... if ... Rempe wasn't staring at his numbers all the way in...

Even as big of a meathead as him knows that hit is never allowed.

And with him getting match penalties in roughly one out of every four games he's ever played ... yeah, absolutely zero benefit of the doubt that this wasn't intentional all the way. Someone with zero history deserves to sit for a couple of games for a hit like that. He's already been suspended for multiple games for a similar hit. If we had a functional Dept of Player Safety he should be looking at at least ten to see if 'that' would teach him anything. Unfortunately in this timeline we have the Department of Random Justice where Parros taking him out to lunch is a distinct possibility. So who knows
Of course he knows it's not allowed. He doesn't care, clearly, given his stupid preening he does after every one of these hits. Safe to assume the Rangers either don't care or encourage it since they keep putting him back out there.

Also, if you're a Rangers fan still coming on here to defend Rempe, you're embarrassing yourself. Being a fan is one thing, losing all sense of reason as an adult because of your bias toward a sports team is just immature BS.

The problem is, in terms of skill level, skating and hockey IQ, Rempe is an ECHL level player. That was fine having a meathead like that in the 1970s and 80s, but it's a different league now. These days, with the speed and skill of the game, we need the heavy hitters to have NHL level skills (and brains).

We definitely do need more big hits and physical play in the league....but it has to be done right. And Rempe ain't it.
It doesn’t help that ESPN and hockey media in general trip over themselves to try and make this clown a thing. Emily Kaplan spent like 15 minutes in one of their early games acting like he was an actual hockey player.

The amount of articles about how Rempe was doing all this work in the offseason on his skating, puck skills, blah blah blah, were legitimately hilarious. He is and always will be a goon, and that’s it.

The arm up near the neck is problematic, but at 6 ft 8 in tall I'm sure things are different. He's gotta be careful with that.

But this thread definitely shows a large majority of posters here started watching hockey when the league was removing hitting as a part of the game. Every big hit has people outraged, even ones clearly legal.

Just like in football, they are making things somewhat unrealistic by limiting physical contact in physical sports. A large object in motion tends to stay in motion. With hockey people are constantly assuming players are aiming for the head or trying to hurt the player, even if that isn't the case. I understand Rempe's arm against his neck is not that, but many other times people freak out. Again though, if he wasn't so tall, that arm would have been against his back. So he has to learn to be careful with hits. But doesn't mean he's some scumbag trying to injure.
Exactly this

I have no problem with this hit outside of the high arm. Boarding is often driving someone when theyre 2 feet from the boards. This was hardly in a dangerous position. Pure reputation call

Can you post a screen shot of his elbow ever making contact with heiskanen’s head? Or you want me to post a screenshot of rempes forearm hitting his back

Thank you. Forearm on his shoulder. At no point does his elbow touch his head

If you don't want to see it I can't help you further.

Just fine the rangers 1 million dollars against the cap for every game they dress rempe for a game.
People and casual fans pay money to go to games and tune in on tv to watch rempe. You wont find 1 single casual sports fan who says they wanna watch hockey because of miro heiskanen. Rempe is great for the sport, the very online crowd just hates admitting it

If the casuals want the NHL to have more Rempe's, f*ck the casuals. That's all.

I kinda get your logic from a pure business stand point, but even then the effect is smaller than you think. If Rempe starts to injure star players, it could even turn out net negative for the league. Overall, the NHL will not miss him.

Obviously hitting has its place in the game but I've never understood people who seem to watch hockey just for the violence. Plenty of sports where the violence is the whole point

Ok , never have I met a person before who can speak on behalf of every casual hockey fan.

Anyways, I can see some people find Rempe entertaining but I don't see what you're trying to say here.
Are you suggesting that Rempe should be allowed to go around cheap shotting people freely because it's entertaining to some casual fans?

Not a very sensible argument i'm afraid.

Laffy is just throwing stuff at a wall trying to make it stick. If they weren't Rangers fans, they'd find Rempe a dumb sideshow like the rest of us. Some people get ridiculously blinded by loyalties to billion dollar sports franchises.

Look at which player lead the league in social media impressions last year despite only playing what 17 games? I had random people hitting me up asking if i wanted to go to rangers games to see rempe. People who never watched hockey before.

Rempe is so so so so much better for the sports than scrawny skill guys doing michigans

Or I just watch the video and can come at it in a non-bias “rEmPe iD a gOoN oMg” perspective. If youre a serious person, youll watch the replay and see
1) rempe slows down
2) his elbow NEVER hits heiskanen’s head
3) his FOREARM hits his back
4) his skates DO NOT leave the ice before contact
