As a hockey fan I personally prefer players who can play hockey.

Guys like rempe make the sport worth watching for the masses. Philly/pitt playoff series around early 2010’s were must watch tv. No one remembers those games, people remember the tenancity, grit, violence and line brawls. Pure hockey is kinda boring to the masses. Violence is what makes the sport unique and entertaining.
Fox and panarin dont admire their passes. They get runs taken at them every game but theyre not morons and understand this is a physical sport where you can get hit
The post lockout very online crowd is horrified that both hitting and fighting are even allowed. They dont understand the things that made hockey great. The lack of violence and fighting pulls fans away, doesnt draw fans towards
