Rempe elbowing major on Heiskanen - Suspended 8 games

Is he on the Rangers to make people question why they have a dude who is barely AHL level in the NHL and potentially distract people from the Rangers' poor season, or what ?
It's a good question. It's probably a mix of him being there to satisfy some fans' desire for a goon, and probably the organization thinks he's a nice diversion from their own inabilities. We have Tanner Glass in our player development department.

For the guy arguing Rempe's elbow doesn't actually hit Heiskanen's head and it's more forearm - I'd still call this 5 for boarding and a game misconduct.

Heiskanen’s right eye area was the one he got checked out. In other words the opposite side of where rempes forearm hit his left shoulder.

2 for boarding? MAYBE. 5 and the gate? Joke.

That's the side that was towards the glass. I really hope this is just you trolling and you have a basic understanding of physics that a 2nd grader has.

You should work for an insurance company as their attorney. I'd love for you to argue against someone hitting their head on the steering wheel or dashboard after getting hit from behind. "But your honor, the car hit them in the back."

Half of the people attacking the Ranger fans who are being morons in this thread would also moronically defend their own player in a similar situation. These threads discussing dirty plays are always the same.

It doesn’t help that ESPN and hockey media in general trip over themselves to try and make this clown a thing. Emily Kaplan spent like 15 minutes in one of their early games acting like he was an actual hockey player.

The amount of articles about how Rempe was doing all this work in the offseason on his skating, puck skills, blah blah blah, were legitimately hilarious. He is and always will be a goon, and that’s it.

Pretending like ESPN or Emily Kaplan have any relevance in the hockey world is hilarious.

I know as much about quantum physics as Kaplan does about hockey.

ESPN didn't give a damn about hockey before and still don't.

All that being said, big hits and excitement are more likely to get the attention and interest of a casual fan than a high scoring game. Over the years going to games, you can tell people who don't go to many, they want hits and fights. I don't blame them, I love those things too, but I enjoy other aspects of the game.

9-2 games, despite with Gary thinks, are not what makes people interested in the sport. They associated it with physicality, which is good, and that's what they want to see. The watered down physical play lessens the appeal of the game.

People and casual fans pay money to go to games and tune in on tv to watch rempe. You wont find 1 single casual sports fan who says they wanna watch hockey because of miro heiskanen. Rempe is great for the sport, the very online crowd just hates admitting it
Do they ask Rangers fans at the door who they came to see?

I think a game misconduct is the right punishment this time. However, I wouldn't give a suspension.

Miro Heiskanen has a long history in Finnish hockey's SM-liiga of turning his back in checking situations so that the opponent hits his numbers, leading to a game penalty. In the NHL, this fact is probably not known, nor in disciplinary actions, but it's not the first time that Heiskanen causes a game penalty for a opposing team in this fashion.

He's quite the brave man to risk serious injury for a penalty.

Considering his size he must be more aware of his decisions. However the outrage is overstated as well. Likely a 1 game suspension.
Hes already been offered an in-person hearing. I can’t imagine he’ll get any less than 5 games, wouldn’t be shocked to see 10+. With his history he realistically probably deserves 15-20, but we know the DoP(e)S doesn’t actually care about the PS part of their name.

And yet the game is more popular than ever. I suspect those who come for the hits and fights were never likely to be more than casual fans who go to a couple games a year anyway.

I miss 90s hockey... im sad goons are gone.

This guy is an absolute moron... everytime he steps on the ice he does intentional dangerous shit that doesn't even fit in the flow of the game.

When you lose me....

Rempe wouldn't last 10 games in the 90s NHL .. Fake ass goon.
