Ok , never have I met a person before who can speak on behalf of every casual hockey fan.

Anyways, I can see some people find Rempe entertaining but I don't see what you're trying to say here.
Are you suggesting that Rempe should be allowed to go around cheap shotting people freely because it's entertaining to some casual fans?

Not a very sensible argument i'm afraid.
This wasnt a cheap shot. Replay clearly shows that

Or I just watch the video and can come at it in a non-bias “rEmPe iD a gOoN oMg” perspective. If youre a serious person, youll watch the replay and see
1) rempe slows down
2) his elbow NEVER hits heiskanen’s head
3) his FOREARM hits his back
4) his skates DO NOT leave the ice before contact
Right. The poster with a "Rempe fight club" avatar is in fact non-biased when talking about Matt Rempe. I really believe this!

Might want to check out the rulebook again. There was no chance for him to hit Heiskanen cleanly there even if his elbow wasn't up. Maybe his mind just can't process the game fast enough and things end up badly so often.

Here is the elbowing rule that Rempe violated:

Rule 45 - Elbowing

45.1 Elbowing - Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a manner that may or may not cause injury.

45.2 Minor Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a minor penalty, based on the degree of violence, to a player guilty of elbowing an opponent.

45.3 Major Penalty - A major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, shall be imposed on any player who uses his elbow to illegally check an opponent. A major penalty must be imposed under this rule for an infraction resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent (see 45.5).

45.4 Match Penalty - The Referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player attempted to or deliberately injured his opponent by elbowing.

45.5 Game Misconduct Penalty - When a major penalty is imposed under this rule for an infraction resulting in an injury to the face or head of an opponent, a game misconduct penalty shall also be imposed.

The NHL is gonna need to make players pass a written safety test like getting a driver’s license.

Maybe even a minimum IQ score to weed out these bottom quintile subhumans whose sole contribution is making the sport worse by injuring more talented players.

Aggressive hockey is back on 8th Avenue !!!

I used to get outraged over these kinds of “players” (and like Professor Leander Pomfritt I use that term with my devil-may-care abandon concerning the Matt Rempes and Tom Wilsons ). But no more. The NHL doesn’t really care. The NHLPA doesn’t really care about the health of its players. So why should I? Old Time Hockey !

Can you post a screen shot of his elbow ever making contact with heiskanen’s head? Or you want me to post a screenshot of rempes forearm hitting his back

Thank you. Forearm on his shoulder. At no point does his elbow touch his head

You seem really confused... you realise you dont need to hit the head to be suspended for boarding, elbowing or intent to injure right? He had his arm extended, elbow to the cervical spine/neck as he hit him in the numbers face first into the boards. You are NEVER allowed to lead with your elbow, the only reason he did was to drive Heiskanens head into the boards. If Rempes arm was tucked in and it was shoulder to back, thatd be simple boarding 2 or 5.

You obviously want it to be clean so you dont see what 90% of neutral fans see here, but the elbow out while clearly boarding a player is not a legal play.

The Dallas Stars are extremely disappointed that Rangers forward Matt Rempe was not suspended for his horrifying act of violence last night at American Airlines Center. Rempe is a repeat offender with a long history of these type of acts and we find it shocking that the NHL and their Department of Player Safety failed to take the appropriate action and suspend him indefinitely. Rempe’s dangerous and reckless actions caused an injury to Miro Heiskanen. We view this as a dereliction of duty by NHL Head of Player Safety, George Parros, and believe he is unfit to continue in his current role.

"I used to get outraged over these players, then my team got one. Now I'm fine with them, but it's totally for other reasons!"

Right man, we all believe you

It doesn’t help that ESPN and hockey media in general trip over themselves to try and make this clown a thing. Emily Kaplan spent like 15 minutes in one of their early games acting like he was an actual hockey player.

The amount of articles about how Rempe was doing all this work in the offseason on his skating, puck skills, blah blah blah, were legitimately hilarious. He is and always will be a goon, and that’s it.
Yeah, it's nauseating how much they sell Rempe in Rangersland. He's a caricature of an actual player.

People and casual fans pay money to go to games and tune in on tv to watch rempe. You wont find 1 single casual sports fan who says they wanna watch hockey because of miro heiskanen. Rempe is great for the sport, the very online crowd just hates admitting it

Dude, Miro is a national hero in Finland

Very clearly a dirty hit with a high elbow to the head from behind. 5 and a game misconduct seems appropriate. Not sure if the wheel of justice suspends him a game or 2 or not.
