That’s the most fun. Those names that spring back to your head after all those years.

Exactly! Although it also makes me question what I remember. Like I remember Jim Sandlak, Terry Yake, and Dennis Vial with the Sabres. But they won’t count because they only played exhibition games with them. But I would try to use them as a person for the square of the Sabres and XX.

Or Tim Thomas as an Edmonton goalie. Or as a Tampa goalie. Or Zarley Zalapski as a Tampa guy

I know what you mean. My Edmonton-Dallas pick today was Don Jackson.

My comment was just in jest. I'm not trying to gatekeep how people play. I just noticed that in the last couple weeks, when the game got really popular, there's been a lot of growth in the 9/9 scores but not the rest.

My goalie pick for Dallas was Alex Auld, the only reason I remember him was because I saw him play the Devils when he was the Stars and he got pulled. I knew he'd be a pretty low answer.

Welp you guys are better than me. I was thinking Jagr for Dallas and I 2nd guessed myself. Probably would have ended up guessing it, if I didn't screw up the Taylor Hall guess.

It’s actually not so difficult to get 9/9 if you stick to obvious players (ex. Kessel for Arizona/Pittsburgh). What’s difficult is to get a high uniqueness score while maintaining a 9/9.

I’d love to name Steve Begin as my obscure Dallas/Nashville pick, but let’s just say he’s not the first name coming to mind lol

I f***ed myself over when I picked Oleksiak for Dallas/Pittsburgh, then he was the only player I could think of for Seattle/Pittsburgh.

Also my first time trying this. I didn't realize there was a "uniqueness score".

As the title says- I think this fun little game might be a nice conversation starter to remember some guys and kill time in the off-season. If you don't want to resort to twitter replies to brag about remembering obscure Player X getting into a game for the 1996/97 New York Islanders, here's your chance!

(If anyone finds this thread worthwhile it will obviously contain spoilers, so don't open it until you've completed the game on any given day)

Love it. Thanks for the share!

I was doing this all wrong apparently

I was sitting there trying to think of players that had 100+ point seasons for both teams for the multiple team slots and eventually just gave up

Merde. Messed up a couple details of the

Eminger/Carle trade

so I misremembered which of those two players played for both Washington and Tampa on either side of a Flyers stint.

Finally got a 9/9

Shocked how popular Dion Phaneuf was. But I guess there's not a ton of trades between OTT/LA.

Nearly picked Danny Briere for BUF 100 point scorer. Glad I didn't because I looked him up and his peak was 95.

I think you can figure out the exact moment where I understood how the thing worked, what was the point of this game. On top of the order where I did it. Good for 181 Uniqueness.

I'm too casual (to the point where I'm not great with getting someone for two Western Conference teams at all) to go for Uniqueness on _all_ of them, I'm happy if I can hit less than 10% on just _one_ of the nine.

I'm an idiot. Being a Sens fan, I started on the left and I was shocked to see Gaborik at 30%, so I tried to game the system, thinking Ovi was too obvious a choice for the Caps.

I wonder at what point this game becomes a guessing game where the really obvious choices become valid because everyone avoids them.

On the funny side, I may have the biggest difference between lowest and highest uniqueness on the same card.

I got today's Gordle in 2 guesses with only one yellow letter as a hint, which blew my mind.

I put in Gretzky as a starting guess, it gave me K in yellow, so I just put in Kulikov and boom

My Puckdoku was only 7/9 because I had wrong guesses for 100 point scorers for Washington and LA.
I didn't want to go too too obvious with Gretzky or Ovechkin and was thinking early 90s so I put Dino Ciccarelli and Jari Kurri, but neither of them hit that mark. Kurri's production had already dropped significantly by the time he got to LA and as much as Dino scored a ton of goals, he apparently didn't assist on very many
